SVCD is bit tricky to get into a DVDR disc, as the resolution of SVCD is not same as any of DVD's resolutions.
In theory, the only way to put an SVCD to a DVD "correctly" is to re-encode it to use some of the DVD-Video's official resolutions. But as we know, re-encoding always weakens the picture quality.
There's a "hack" available for this as well. This is done by "spoofing" the DVD player to believe that the video it is playing is actually in valid DVD-Video resolution (most obvious one is to use 352x576 for PAL or 352x480 for NTSC as they're quite close to the SVCD's 480x576 or 480x480 resolution). For this process, there's a specific tool that will handle the "header spoofing" and will also take care of the audio re-encoding, as the SVCD's audio frequency is the same as VCD's, not the same as DVD-Video requires. This tool is called SVCD2DVDMPG and it can be downloaded from here.
