802.11

802.11 is simply a set of specs for networking and wireless communication which have been standardized by the IEEE.

802.11b, known as Wi-Fi, is the most common and can provide speeds of up to 11mbs. 802.11g and 802.11a variants are faster and are becoming more common place as routers and other wireless devices evolve.
