Import DVD

The first thing you need to do is import the VIDEO_TS folder from your DVD into Nero Recode so it can process the files and find the main movie. Find the VIDEO_TS folder that contains the VIDEO_TS.ifo file. Nero Recode will now analyze the DVD which should only take anything from seconds to a couple of minutes to complete.

Choose a target

The fit to target feature is excellent, allowing you to select a target size that the output video will be. It gives a lot of options, including 74min CDR's, 2 CDR's, DVDR etc. but it also gives you the option to set a custom value. For this guide I have selected 2 80min CDs.

Choose Audio Track(s)

Next you can select what audio stream you want on your output video, assuming that you have a DVD with multiple options for audio. You can also click the #2 tab to select a second audio stream if you wish. Next you have to select what subtitles (if any) you want to keep.

Choose Subtitles

You can select subtitles to keep if you need them, or if you prefer, you can click on the drop-down box and select None, as I have done. The last tab is the Info tab, this just gives you information on the DVD movie, including it's aspect ratio, whether it is progressive or interlaced etc.
