To get extra picture quality it is recommended to cut off the end credits and if there is any extra material at the start of the movie you can sacrifice, do that too. Click the Start/End button (under the Import DVD button).
This should look familiar to anyone who has used DVD Shrink on a regular basis and used to cut off end credits etc. The first slider you see is for the start frame, and the second for the end frame. To make it quick, try selecting the second last chapter for the end frame slider, this often brings you straight to the start of the credits.
When you have selected an area for the start frame and an area for the end frame, click the OK button. Now because there is less video to encode, the rest of the movie enjoys a slightly higher bitrate, producing higher quality overall.
Video Options - Deinterlace?
If you have an Interlaced source, it is recommended that you deinterlace. Click the Video button (under Start/End and Chapters). The first tab is about Deinterlace. If the program has detected a Progressive source, it will set it to disabled by default. However if the source is interlaced it is recommended that you enable this option. When done, click OK.
Video Settings
Click the Next button now. Before we select the output settings, we will first want to tamper with the quality settings a little. Click the Nero Digital Settings button. Firstly, click the Encoding Method button. You have the choice now of 1-pass or 2-pass encoding.
1-pass encoding is faster and produces OK quality, 2-pass takes longer but produces much better quality. Quality should be the most important thing always when encoding so select the 2-pass encoding option. Now click Quality/Speed.
Here again we have one setting we can change that will make all the difference quality wise. Make sure that you set Performance/Quality to Extra Quality. There is no point selecting the fastest encoding solution and then hoping/expected high quality output. You have to sacrifice time for quality always.
