3. Downloading with G3 Torrent.

You can download very easily with G3 Torrent. If you clicked the Associate button in the general preferences that we covered earlier, then just going to a website and clicking g a link to a torrent file will automatically add that download to your list. You can also just click the Add button and open a torrent file manually if you wish. If you have set all the configurations earlier properly, then your torrents should go without any trouble.

3.1. Health.

Every BT client has a way of showing the health of a torrent file. This client is no different in that it does have its own system, but its system however is different to other clients. For example Azureus has the smiley's, BitTornado has the status light, ABC has the colored text etc. whereas G3 Torrent has small icons. Now since these icons couldn't all be described properly as easily as the other clients methods, I will leave you figuring them out yourself. If you look at a torrent you will see the icon beside the filename. Leave the mouse over the icon for a moment a popup should come up with a message about the health of the torrent. If you are having problems getting incoming connections, you may need to configure your port settings again.

3.2. Downloading File Details.

As with every BT client, there is a way to look at details of the downloading torrent. G3 differs in a way here because it shows some details by default, like the IP Addresses of users you are currently connected to. You can have a look at more details by selecting a torrent and clicking the details tab below the file list. I have removed the filename of the download that was going as well as the Hash info and tracker announce URL. Basically you can see it tells you the status and details on what has been downloaded so far. It also shows you some details about the connections to other peers. One of the most important parts here is it shows you your Share Ratio. The one in this screenshot has 0 because the torrent just started and probably has not gotten enough data to begin uploading just yet. We will go more into Share Ratio soon.

3.3. Downloading Graph Details.

There is a built in graph system in G3 Torrent that some users might like to use. As you can see it is very easy to understand. On the left hand side on the pic you see 100kbps. This is because I didn't change the setting earlier in the Network Options. Since the torrent just started, if you look at the graph you will see there was very little activity. The graph is sort of self explanatory except of course the part about the capacities it is working with. To see the graph anytime, just click the graph tab.

3.4. Friends Details.

This is something I definitely wont go much into because most torrent clients don't make use of a friends system. However if you look this is also very easy to understand. All you need is the IP Address of your friend to add him/her to your friends list. Like I said, clients don't make a system of friends therefore this is a feature I don't use myself but is one that a lot of readers might like to try out. Maybe in the next update of this guide, I'll cover this a bit more.

3.5. Selective File Downloading.

As we mentioned earlier a popup window comes along when you open a new torrent if there is multiple files. You can open this again even when a torrent is already downloading by right clicking and clicking MultiFile Torrent Manager. With this manager it is possible to change the order in which files are downloaded but it is also possible to untick the box beside files and stop them from ever downloading. This is a useful feature that has been coming up in most BitTorrent clients. Some argue that its bad for the network if too many people start cutting files out, but so far it seems to be doing no harm to BitTorrent at all.
