Begin Encoding

Beginning the Encoding Process is very easy, all you have to do is select the path that you wish the MPEG file to be saved into and click the Start Output button. If you click the little Encoder setting tab then you can switch off the preview if you'd rather it's not displayed during encoding. You also have the option to Output clips separately if you don't want them to be merged as one file. So set whatever settings you wish here and click the Start output button. The amount of time the encoding will take depends on the source material, your computer settings and stats etc. One tip however is to disable any scheduled tasks like anti-virus scans or screen savers as they will pop up and make the encoding take longer. Also its best that if you are using XP, that you are the only user currently logged onto the computer, and that the computer remains idle during encoding. Encoding to VCD and SVCD will take a lot less time than encoding to DVD.

Finally

Now you should know how to use TMPGEnc XPress to encode to MPEG files for you. Look out for the Advanced guide that will show you how to use the program to it's real potential which spans way beyond this beginners basic guide.
