VSO PhotoDVD 2 - Add & Edit Images

As mentioned earlier, an easy way to add images is to right click and choose either the Add files or Add folder options. However, below the list is also an Add file and Add folder button. You can also drag and drop images into the list.

To remove an image, right click on and click Remove. There is also a Remove (X) button underneath the Image list. There is also two buttons to move up and move down the list.

Some small further editing can be done right here if you wish to rotate the images at all. There are two buttons beside the Move Down button to rotate a selected image either clockwise or counterclockwise. The next button to the right of these is for additional editing (a small magnifying glass - we'll look at that in a moment). Beside that again is another button to change the view of the photos.

Depending on the setting of this button, a slidebar may appear allowing you to zoom further in on the images. Now we'll have a look at additional editing, so click the small magnifying glass when you have an image selected.

VSO PhotoDVD 2 - Additional Editing

PhotoDVD 2 allows for Additional Editing of each and every photo when you click the button (little magnifying glass). Here you can do excellent tasks such as choose the animation effect that will be used on the photo, change duration and transition timing just for each individual picture and set the focus point of the photo.

Your options for animation are Auto, Zoom In, Zoom Out and Pan. Usually left on auto, things display fine, but if you'd prefer a particular effect you can set it here. Animation factor is usually ok on Medium, but that's another setting completely up to the user based on their photos and preferences.

The transition timing is the length of time it will take the transition effect to change from one photo to the next and the duration is how long the photo will be shown.

In addition to those settings there are some buttons under the preview box and an excellent subtitle option. The buttons from left to right are Previous Photo, Clockwise rotation, Counterclockwise Rotation, Remove, Black and White, Focus Point, Show/hide animation properties, Show/hide subtitles panel and Next Photo.

So as you can guess there are a couple of extra nice features there such as the ability to set the photo to black and white (this can be a great effect on some photos) and to set the focus point on the image (this is good for the animating - if it's a picture of somebody it's always good to focus around the face).

Below all this is the Subtitles panel. As I mentioned earlier, PhotoDVD can create up to three streams of subtitles for comments to be displayed on photos. To put a comment on a photo simply select which stream you want it on (1, 2 or 3) and type in what you want.

Note: Remember these three streams play throughout the entire slideshow. Therefore if, for example, you have three different languages like English, Spanish and Chinese, then keep each on a separate stream. If you do not, then you will keep having to change the subtitles being displayed with your remote control. Think a while about this and be creative. If you only want to comment on each photo in one language, then only ever use stream 1 - there is no need for another subtitle stream.

When you are done editing, simply close the Additional Editing window and click the Next button to get to the background audio options.
