Wii's Virtual Console is generating good sales

29 November 2007 18:58 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 14 comments

Wii's Virtual Console is generating good sales According to Shinji Hatano, licensing director for Nintendo, the Wii's Virtual Console download service has become a lucrative business model and has so far generated JPY 3.5 billion, the equivalent of 33 million USD.

Hatano released the figures during a recent press conference in which he also marked a "collaboration with NTT for broadband internet access for the home console."

So far, 7.8 million items have been download through the service, which offers games from past Nintendo consoles and are usually priced between $5 and $20 USD.

Considering the amount of Wii's sold and the cheap price of the virtual games it doesn't surprise me to see this.

I personally like playing the Donkey Kong series just as I used to without any of the crap they added to the Game Boy Advanced versions.

I'd rather read a headline that goes a little something like this:

    "Nintendo gets there shit together"

which would entail them getting more Wii's on the shelves!

Hmmm, I didn't know this was Writing Basics 101.

The only reason there is a shortage is due to the fact that Nintendo just isn't meeting the demand, they could do it if they wanted to. It sounds more like Nintendo is enjoying its "can't keep 'em on the shelves" status a bit too much to seriously make an attempt at meeting demand.

Is Nintendo going to release those Virtual Boy games in black and red?

I think it should also say something along the lines of "Nintendo drops the price of the Wii to 199.00$." That would be another thumb in Sonys blu-ray box's eye.

stupid are you this read you if

Nintendo is going too be on top again and that's like when they first released the 8 bit system number 1 and that's what they should be.

The only thing that hurt Nintendo and kept them from really dominating the market was the Nintendo 64 cart based system and the new PS1 from Sony.

I am sure glad when they released the game cube they got there heads out of there asses and went too the disk system.

I think they should try a system with just a hard drive.

They couldn't really because they still need a format too get it too the hard drive so that means they need disk or a internet connection.

The only downside of the Wii is that developers think they HAVE to think up some creative way to use the controller, making you fling your arms all over the place looking like a jackass while playing the games.
