I second that, at least they went to bat for a majority of the users.. to the ones who got caught, "WAKE UP" What you are doing is illegal.. If you do not have the means or know how to protect yourself then you shouldn't be on line doing the things you were doing that got you in trouble..These guy took it on the chin like men and told the courts to go f@*k themselves..Good in my book..

Ah and on it goes..... does anyone hear the whistle of that train? Funny how this seemed to get rolling with illegally obtained emails and judgements in favor of said illegally obtained evidence. Guess it goes to show how far the corruption has come. I'm sure it will go further in the future as long as the mafiaa has backing and cash....
Oh wait I forgot some of their "members" are already pulling out due to consumer backlash.

It looks like Blackjax has a decent head on his (or her) shoulders.

Indeed, from what I remember the evidence against TorrentSpy (emails and such) were obtained illegally which means that it is null and void in a court of law.
Quote: The court's decision is a significant victory for MPAA member companies and sends a potent message to future defendants that this egregious behavior will not be tolerated by the judicial system
Here is a rough translation:
"The court's decision was significant in that it allows us to continue our illegal methods with the court ruling in our favor and turning a blind eye to our obviously illicit methods, this sends a message that the judicial system is screwed up beyond repair".
Peace

It's him and I couldn't agree with you more pop about the judicial system. Amazing how every 6-12 monthes we hear something about a judge doing something "questionable" in our community!

They act as if it's a victory in their battle against file sharing. It's plainly a victory against "lying" in court. Torrentspy is busted. There are hundreds more like them. That $30,000 will probably cover a fraction of the cost it took to beat Jamie Thomas and her kids into the ground.

They will never catch up! right when the MPAA gets into a court of law with one website, a dozen more pop up. By the time the court case Is halfway through 10 more will pop up. It's a cat and mouse game, except there are more mice than cats and theyre breeding faster that the cats can catch them. Although since they deleted their user base..... I tip my hat off to them for such a bold move. Besides people who want to watch movies online for free have gone the streaming route. The form of piracy changes every few months. So the Mpaa will continue waisting money on causes that have long been outdated already
