Bit Torrent?! That piece of overrated garbage. I tried to download something the other night for a friend, a small file only 58 KB in size and it was going to take over two days to get it. I finally found it online at another site and downloaded it and it only took 15 seconds.
And if you were one of the infantile fools that like to insert viruses to infect other's computers then you made a big mistake admitting it. Cause all I'd do is block your domain from my computer. I don't believe limewire is outdated, but being wrongly used by morons with no sense of judgment or common sense in their infantile skulls. That being said in my opinion enough is enough.
End of conversation.

All those 100MB torrents downloading in 10 minutes and 4+ gigs in a couple hours don't seem overrated to me. Maybe I'm a moron with no common sense, because I thought torrents were always large downloads.
I know I wrongly used limewire when someone convinced me to look for their crap music with it. I installed it and it wouldn't connect to the network. Gave me some error messages that seemed to be trying to goad me into shutting down my firewall./rant
I think I'll delete limewire and figure out newsgroups.

Excuse me?? Are you hearing yourself? Using Limewire is asking to get sued, plain and simple. We understand (after your multiple spam posts) that you love Limewire, thats fine, but DO NOT try to say that its better than Newsgroups, BitTorrent, Warez or any other safer and faster method of file sharing. Enjoy downloading files from the MPAA and RIAA at slow speeds :)

Quite possibly.. If you think it did nothing then please check for hide.exe lurking well down in a hidden directory below system32. (just possibly you have the true stealth version which will be running a random svchost from somewhere else than system32)..
See.. I'm nice really.
Anyway.. to continuing limewire users.. Look forward to see your names in the "busted and fined monster amounts" section in your local paper.
Personally I would rather go to jail for something worthwhile, like armed robbery, or online mulit million $$ fraud (especially as they usually don't ever trace the money) than get a couple of years for some stupid songs they play over and over on the radio all day. Because I wouldn't pay any extortionate fine, or settle with the a-holes who are ripping us all off.

Aint that the truth!
Last month I paid $90 for an hour with this escort that advertised she was a Britney Spears look alike... when the knock on the door came she turned out to be a 3' 6" tall version of something from the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Then to make matters worse I downloaded this file named "britney_nude12/07.avi" only to find out that it was Varnull in drag AND he was infected with some nasty virus! To insure the safety of my machine I immediately wiped my HD and put an earlier untainted image back on. Now if I could only somehow wipe my own memory to remove the image of him shakin his a$$ to 'Hit Me Baby One More Time"...
hehe j/k mate couldn't resist crackin a joke!

Good luck with all the "mayhem" you've caused. You are the reason real programmers get a bad rep.

Limewire has got to be the worst P2P out of all of them, its has so much crapware with the program.
Get something called Frostwire, its exactly like limwire but theres no free and paid version. Theres just one FREE version without all the crap that limewire has.
unlike limewire, BT forces you to share what you're downloading which increases your chances of getting caught

I don't know where you limewire haters are getting your information, but it's the best program out there. It comes with absolutly no spyware or other programs, I use multiple spyware and adware detecting and removing software and have not had one single problem.
I even removed limewire from my pc and downloaded a new copy after reading all these statements and nothing else was installed or added. and no there were no additional svchost's listed in my task manager.
If you guys were smart you would know what files to download and what not to. anything thats like 15kb's in size is a no no. Anything that only 1 person is sharing is a no no. always use bitzi web lookup. and peer guardian and you will be safe.
The only time I use utorrent is when I can't find what im looking for on limewire.

Even at 18% that will keep those lawyers busy! So, if you are the gambling type, there is safety in numbers. It is like a school of fish with other fish feeding on the school. The lawyers have not sued 100,000 out of the 50 million+ US users.

Seriously dude, wtf... I know you know nothing about the things you just said in that post, and even then, why are you wasting your time?
But honestly, limewire may not be good, but frostwire is certainly effective for downloading songs. Much more efficient than using torrents, where you'd have to download the entire album anyway.
However, the best method of file sharing IMO is rapidshare. If you're willing to pay $10, you'll have virtually unlimited files to download, with sites like warez-bb.org (not promoting here, just giving the best example) having over 100k apps, 100k movies, and 30k games. Plus, there's virtually a 0% chance of getting caught because it's a direct download that can't be monitored by an outside company because you're not sharing it in any way.

Pff.
Some info:
- Torrents, like most P2P methods, can take a significant period of time to start. I have not, however, EVER seen Limewire, eMule, or any othe P2P protocol match BT for raw speed. I regularly max my d/l pipe (~1.5 MByte/s, no not megabit - lol) due to the traffic of just 1-3 torrents. To get even close to that performance in any other P2P client, you'd generally have to be running 20-40 popular transfers concurrently.
- You do NOT have to d/l an entire album, discography, or whatever in BitTorrent (BT). Any decent client lets you select individual files within a torrent.
- The Gnutella network ( Shareaza, Limewire, bearshare, Soulseek, etc.) is riddled with RIAA/MPAA and other anti-P2P countermeasures. That's ignoring the virii, mind you.
- Of the more traditional P2P programs, eMule and its clones are usually the best.
- PeerGuardian, while potentially useful, does NOT make you safe, any more than holding a bit of cardboard over your head protects you from an intense cloudburst.
- People crying about BT requiring uploading while they are downloading are exactly the main problem with P2P! How the hell do you think files get on the networks for you to download..?! Oh, yeah, that's right: somebody is uploading them. Jeez, if everybody takes that stinky leech attitude, the RIAA/MPAA won't have to do much at all to kill P2P. In fact, their methods are designed to encourage exactly this. If noone uploads, noone downloads, period.
- For large files newsgroups, RapidShare, and BT (approximately in that order for speed/efficiency)are pretty much the way to go.

Bitzi web lookup - Right click the file you want to download and under advanced I think it is. select lookup bitzi, about 80% of files on limwire are reviewed and have comments and ratings posted about them.
PeerGuardian is a program that you can download off of this site, just search it. However do not use it when doing normal web activities, gaming, etc. Your connection and loading times will be terrible. It works great with limewire and is meant to keep the RIAA and MPAA from accessing your computer.

DVDback23, you can't get sued using limewire if you don't share-with BT, you're FORCED to share what you're downloading which increases your chances of getting sued
