T-Mobile sells 1 millionth G1 handset

23 April 2009 21:35 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 7 comments

T-Mobile sells 1 millionth G1 handset T-Mobile has now sold its 1 millionth Android-based G1 phone, a strong pace for the phone which was released last October.

The carrier remains the fourth largest in the US however, behind Verizon, AT&T and Sprint and sales of the smartphone were significantly behind those of the Apple iPhone, which sold 1.6 million from January through March 31st.

The G1 is also by far the most used 3G phone on T-Mobile, with the carrier saying there are 1.5 million 3G-capable devices on the network.

T-Mobile is expected to launch new Android-based "G" series phones later this year, with one being a touchscreen.

I can't tell by the picture: what time is it? Is it 2:47PM or 9:11?

I was once with T-Mobile and will never go back. Their service is very prone for errors and the customer service is by far the worst that I have ever experienced.

My phone is among them and am incredibly happy with it!

As for problems with T-mobile, I'm in the UK and I've had none... Maybe 3G signal could be better in places but the 2G internet is fast enough for basic browsing most of the time.

Anyway congratulations to T-mobile, HTC and google. Hopefully we'll see the android market expand very soon.

If you cant not tell time on the picture, then how can you complain about the fact that T-mobile has been voted #1 ( thats the number ONE=first)by JD POWERS for the last 7 years in a row for OMG CUSTOMER SERVICE. Read it and weep honey. Never had a problem with T-mobile unlike THE "largest carrier" who were total ***holes.

@maryjayne... Apparently you've never tried to deal with Verizon. I'm sitting on a bill of more than $1,200 because they're claiming not to have received paperwork that they signed for.

As for me, I personally just go with Cricket. Customer service ain't the best, but the reception has gotten REALLY good in my area; and they actually encourage customers to get phones hacked over to the network(Imagine that, a carrier that encourages you to tweak your equipment!) The catch is that you better be prepared to fix your own phone(or take it to someone) if you mess up. In short, it's the tech-gadget-tweaker's network.

I'm personally eager for the Samsung Google phone coming out in the near future, it's CDMA, which means I can consider replacing my already stellar LG Dare. ^_^

First off it's more like 9:11.

I don't know what you're talking about. I had T-Mobile before and it was the best carrier I had. Their customer service was the best. For one thing they had 24/7 customer service. All other providers have a certain time for customer service.

Another great thing about T-Mobile is that I never had to wait too long to speak to a person.

If T-Mobile serviced iPhones I wouldn't choose anything over them.

I've been with T-Mobile for almost 5 years now, and have had the G1 since it first came out in october. Actually, I had called them to ask a question as I was having trouble with my data service, and they informed me that the G1 was on its way to my door...3 days before the "official" release date.

Every one of their customer service reps has been nothing but the most helpful as they can be, short of coming to my door and checking out my phone. I even had one notice a service I had on my phone (when I was ordering the Wing), texted me that he removed it (saving me $6), and had my new phone in my hands in less than 22 hours!! I was never charged for overnight shipping either.

They are deffinately the best customer service people I have ever delt with!!
