According to a TouchArcade report, Apple has banned a fully-licensed Commodore 64 emulator from the App Store, claiming it violates the iPhone SKD Agreement.
The application was developed by Manomio and allows gamers to get nostalgic with classic C64 games.
"We've reviewed C64 1.0 and determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it violates the iPhone SDK Agreement 3.3.2," said Apple in the official rejection notice.
"[An application] may not itself install or launch other executable code by any means, including without limitation through the use of a plug-in architecture, calling other frameworks, other APIs or otherwise. No interpreted code may be downloaded and used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple's Published APIs and built-in interpreter(s)," continued Apple.
It is important to note that the App store currently has "a number of similar applications, including programmable calculators and a Z-machine interpreter known as Frotz."

Imagine if Apple ruled the world instead of Windows. Imagine the software that would not be "allowed" and just how vastly different the PC world would be.
Apple Iphone will fall. This type of thing does not go unpunished.
And it's too bad because they could be great!
But it is not to be so. Apple Iphone's years are numbered and 10 years from now we'll be hearing from Apple fanboys saying "Iphone 10.0 is the greatest phone in the world! I just don't understand why everyone buys Windows Mobile phones!"

not only do they disallow apps like this, but they also told flash they wouldnt allow them to create flash 10 for the ipod iphone os. so flash is in production to come out early 2010 for android, windows mobile, web os, and symbian... all but iphone. apple is extremely consumer friendly, youre not allowed to watch hulu, because you have to buy them from itunes.

just to add, i play snes, nes, sega, and soon to be gba and others on android. all you have to do is load a rom on the sd card, and download the application. no root or jailbreak necessary.

@ThePastor
As long as there are clueless sheeple in the world, companies like Apple will prevail. The iPhone is a perfect example. The latest OS "upgrade" has just now added "features" that should have been available from day one.
Sadley enough, look at the sales numbers. They speak for themselves.
Blame not the bandwagoneer for they do not know (or care).....

Hi guys, I have a jailbroken Iphone with firmware 1.1.4 and I am currently downloading all the emulators. The genesis and NES emulators work fine, but I get a message saying 'Error Package download Failed!' whenever I try to download the GBA, PSX or SNES emulators. Can anyone please tell me why I am getting this message and what I can do to let me download them

Yes, Apple attracts sheeple. There latest security patch for itunes is pissing off many users. I believe if you connect up to a computer other than the computer that 'owns' your ipod, the ipod puts up a firewall so you can't connect it to a computer. You need to reset to bring down the fire wall. The reset does not work. You can't upload a fixed patch because of the firewall. Great catch 22! The Zune had one of these killer upgrades that wiped out maybe 20% of all Zunes. I wonder how many ipods this one will kill?
