Written by Andre Yoskowitz @ 29 Mar 2011 2:32 User comments (4)

Amazon launches CloudDrive, offers 5GB free Amazon has launched their anticipated CloudDrive today, offering anyone with an Amazon account 5GB of free cloud storage.
You can access your account here: Amazon CloudDrive

Says Amazon:

Amazon Cloud Drive is your hard drive in the cloud. Store your music, videos, photos, and documents on Amazon's secure servers. All you need is a web browser to upload, download, and access your files from any computer.

Your Cloud Drive comes with 5 GB of free storage—enough space to store up to 1000 songs. This space is yours to use as you like and you will never be charged for it.

Use your Amazon Cloud Drive as the go-to location for all your important files. At work, at home, during your commute or while on vacation—you'll always have access to everything you've uploaded to your Cloud Drive through your Amazon account.

If you need more space, Amazon offers a number of paid options, from 20GB up to 1TB. For each option, each GB is $1, meaning the 1TB option costs $1000 per year.

Ummmm.......and this is great news, a great offer or great anything HOW???

Microsoft offers 25GB on their Skydrive. Others offer the same if not more too. It's all a load of malarky regardless. Who the Hell is gonna take the time to back up a few select files (as 5Gb is a peasley amount) of pics or vids when one can just get another HDD or burn to disc or put on flash, etc. Unless you have a screaming fast upload speed (which only a few companies offer like Comcast) then you'll spend hours doing this and I don't even know if it can be automated because one must login. I could be mistaken about that but STILL........waste of time.

"Cloud" is just another word for "internet" and another way of storing your shit on my shit. Unbelievable how humanity finds a new way of labeling an old thing to make it sound "new" or "rejuvinated". PHOOEY!

Besides, I got one word for ya'll............"DROPBOX"

Hardly an "innovation," I agree, but don't see how anyone can complain with 5GB more free cloud storage. With Dropbox, Skydrive, and Amazon I now have well over 30GB of free online storage for documents.

The best part of CloudDrive is streaming of music at higher quality than Pandora.

Guess who's upset with Amazon's announcement. That's right, the RIAA wants to know where is the licensing agreement between Amazon and their artists for all this stored/streamed music.
Where's their CUT.

You gotta luv these guys.
