Slysoft officially releases AnyDVD HD

17 February 2007 15:12 by James "Dela" Delahunty | 7 comments

Slysoft officially releases AnyDVD HD Slysoft has announced the first official release of AnyDVD HD, with support for AACS and HD DVD. In a press release, the company takes pride in offering a product that enables average computer users to take advantage of their "fair use rights" easily. Here is the changelog...

  • New: added HD DVD and AACS support
(registered users need an upgrade key for HD DVD & AACS support)
  • New: added support for new versions of SONY’s ARccOS protectionto the option "Remove Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
  • Added AnyDVD HD Ripper
  • Fixed: Problem with multi-angle titles and Sony Arccos protection
  • Some minor fixes and improvements
  • Updated languages
AnyDVD HD also fixes some annoyances that HD DVD content protection enforces on some PC users. AnyDVD HD allows you to...

  • watch movies over a digital display connection without HDCP-compliant graphics card and HDCP-compliant display.
  • playback those discs on the PC with PowerDVD Ultra which otherwise would not play or would cause a software crash
  • Removes user prohibitions. You can select language and subtitle tracks without going through the disc's menu.
  • Removes parental restrictions.
  • Allows you to remove or skip Studio Logos and warning messages.
  • With "magic file replacement (tm)" you can remaster any commercial movie disc using simple XML scripts.
  • Includes a UDF 2.5 file ripper; no need to install 3rd party UDF 2.5 filesystem under Windows XP.
"When we considered Blu-Ray, our strategy was simply to initially support HD-DVD and await further development in the marketplace. Already during the beta phase we got many inquiries about Blu-Ray so we decided to go ahead and also provide support for this as soon as possible. Blu-Ray employs the same AACS process as HD-DVD. An implementation was really just a matter of form. A beta version is planned for availability this quarter." Tom Xiang, Marketing Director of SlySoft, said.

Considering SlySoft's Free Lifetime upgrades AnyDVD HD is a good investment, expecially considering if you already own AnyDVD HD its only $30 to get the upgrade.

    Flat out the prices are:

    $80 - AnyDVD HD

    $50 - AnyDVD

Not too bad again considering the free lifetime upgrades and the fact that Blu-ray support should be added in the future so if it "wins" or if you support Blu-ray (or have a PS3) you might soon be able to backup your Blu-ray disks.

Im very impressed. Its good to know that companies like SlySoft continue to deliver quality products for us backup freaks.
Until there is a clear winner in the HD war though, I'll stick with dvd for a few more years.

AnyDVD is simply the best and easiest to use out all of the others. The old DVD Decrypter originally got me started but that was a pain to get configured.

SlySoft is magnificent, every time I ask them a question I get a response and decent answer.

Backed up over 250+ DVD’s with this. I don’t have a HD or Blue Ray player yet, and don’t plan on getting one until I have to. Which means New TV, New DVD player, New HD or BR burner. We are talking a boat load of cash.

I wonder if SlySoft is going to add the new X3 HD DVD that has came out recently.

Nice to know that there guys are always one step ahead of the game.
