Samsung stops sale of defective flat-panel TVs Samsung Electronics has announced that sales of defective flat-panel Liquid-crystal display (LCD) and PDP (Plasma Display Panel) television sets have been suspended, according to Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN). The affected models are found to have defective digital tuners and Samsung has promised to help solve issues with those already sold to customers.
The affected LCD models are LA40M81, LA46M81, LA32R81 AND LA40R81 (sizes from 32, 40 to 46 inches) and affected PDP models include the PS42Q91 and PS50Q91 (42 and 50 inches), according to EDN. Samsung has notified retailers to immediately stop selling the models set up special services for consumers having purchased the models, according to the newspaper report.

This looks like its going to be a major call back. It's not a good sign for the samsung group but at least their willing to fix the issue.

will this not effect other brands like sony who purchase the screens from samsung?

The tuner was bad not the screen.

ho k ty but, does Samsung supply the turners to any other manufactures or is that just for their brand only?

Glad to see a company step up and admit a mistake and then take the proper corrective action. Not too often this happens.

Great Company
Most companies will not admit defects for fear of being sued.
Even after this I am sure someone in California will sue them!
I have a 71' Samsung DLP and the picture is amazing!
Hi-Def is incredible on this thing I highly recommend

I have 3 samsung TV's albeit small ones and they are fine. I appreciate a company that will stand by their products and admit faults. Certain computer makers should take note and not force people to buy another PC because there's a hardware problem.(I believe its called field testing)
