Microsoft Mediaroom unveiled at NXTcomm Today at NXTcomm, a major telecommunications industry event, Microsoft announced the most recent updates to its IPTV platform. Microsoft Mediaroom, as the platform is now known, has been updated to include features for sharing music and images from your home computer, multiple picture in picture capabilities, and a development environment for creating custom multimedia applications. It also now includes support for DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) signals.
“In the highly competitive television market, a well-regarded brand can be a very strong asset,” said Christine Heckart, general manager of worldwide marketing for Microsoft TV. “By leveraging Microsoft Mediaroom as an ingredient brand, service providers can take advantage of the worldwide awareness, positive attributes and consumer preference for Microsoft-based solutions.”

Vista is a solid operating system. It's ok just wait and a PC that's actually built to run it and you won't have problems like that dude in that video.

The mediaroom is just another name for Microsoft's Media centre.

922.6.2007 12:13

I agree its with borhan9 isnt this just another re-hashed version of media center.

What microsoft should really do is instead of getting someone to pay for yet more expensive hardware to get iptv into your front room on some more powerful hardware, why cant we just have a low cost media center extender and reuse the power of that pc we are no longer sitting infront of.

The only way IPTV is ever going to get going at a decent rate is when to hardware to do so hits the magic right price and is making a morepowerful machine that cost more just for watching tv really the right answer.

If you could get a media center extender for $60 - 70 it would explode the use of windows xp media center and vista media center, as i would consider the lack of understand of iptv by the general consumer being a secondary factor after the cost.
