Prince wants to sink Pirate Bay

Written by James Delahunty @ 12 Nov 2007 3:07 User comments (36)

Prince wants to sink Pirate Bay Back in September, Prince let his plans known to target companies and sites including eBay, Pirate Bay and YouTube in a crusade against copyright infringement. Since then, the artist has enlisted the help of the Web Sheriff company to aid in his battle with the Internet. Recently he stirred up controversy by targeting unofficial fan sites with cease and desist letters which seek details on how he would be compensated.
Now it is being reported that Prince is lining up lawyers to take aim at the big fish, the Pirate Bay. As well as targeting the Pirate Bay itself, Web Sheriff will also target companies that advertise on the site. It also will reportedly investigate the Pirate Bay's compliance with Swedish and International tax regulations.

Prince's entourage had previously issued a statement explaining that they are not targeting fans for lawsuits, but instead are seeking out "phoney" sites. Prince Fans United (PFU), a site setup to defend the targeted fan sites dismissed the statement as "confusing, libelous and misleading".

I wonder which "* yourself 101" class he took. First of all, targeting your fans? Then trying to go after TPB? Who doesn't want to sink TPB anyways? And look how many people have already tried and failed...

212.11.2007 22:47

Yes, in case anyone ever needed further proof (assuming you care)...

This proves that Prince, is indeed, a Fag.

313.11.2007 00:16

Wow...

This dude is not only pathetic but his music is even worse.

God...what a fag is right..

If any moron REALLY wanted his music he would go through Limewire.
If any moron REALLY wanted his music, he should be shot.

Just keep an eye here TBP is known to openly post and mock legal threats as they hold no water in Sweden.

513.11.2007 01:32

man he must be puckering up to return to the labels the way he's havign a hissy over everything.

613.11.2007 02:15

He's taking down fan websites?! Are you serious?!

TPB will laugh at him. TPB has been targeted by companies who have bankrolls much larger than Prince.

That could be bad. I hope TPB has that one figured out. :(

713.11.2007 02:40

He may be able to shut down a fan site, which he might as well shoot his audience instead of of suing them. They will never buy his shit anymore.

As for Prince going after the Pirate Bay? HA HA HA HA HA. I still cannot stop laughing at this. It's like a bebe gun stopping a tank!

813.11.2007 03:17

Dapsone / dpkchrome - by all means call Prince an idiot or a wierdo, or a Purple Pain, as he is. But let's keep your gender phobia off the forums

913.11.2007 03:30

The Guy hasn't released anything worth d'loading, let alone buy, this is just his way of saying "look at me, I'm still alive, people" and anything he's trying to get it's just to keep getting money without doing any work.

You don't bite the hand that feeds you, you don't target your fans.

(In his case, he would be thankful he still got them)

1013.11.2007 04:43

oh, its easy you can do that with 3 easy steps,

1. Giant Cannon,
2. Aim Giant Cannon at PB,
3. Fire Giant Cannon.

With these 3 easy steps you can sink down any ship,
just one minor issue though, I don't think it'll work
cause since prince is such a girl I doubt he can get
through step 1 since he might break a nail or something...

Prince if you want to sink PB heres a better idea,
stick with giving away your crappy music in the newspapers,
that way you'll make everyone suffer.

I think that guy should read AD...

1413.11.2007 08:30

Freak boy (Prince) has to much time on his hands. I guess its a hard life riding through the city with purple tights and a velvet swede fluffy ruffles shirt.

1513.11.2007 08:40

That's certainly how NOT to enlist the love and adoration of your fans. I guess i'm assuming he has them...still.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his armpits for targeting his fans.

May he discover the joy of tennis ball size hemorrhoidsfor targeting The Pirate Bay, Ebay, and YouTube.

May he not make another album about all of it.

1613.11.2007 08:48

I'm pretty sure he still does have his fans, anyone catch the superbowl halftime show?

I'm also sure that it isn't Prince alone doing this. Just like Metalica going after Napster in the late 90's, Prince was probably contacted by other smaller people in the business to use him as a figure head because they knew he is a respected name in the music industry and his name and/or rep can't be tarnished by something so insignificant.

Oh yeah, some must be forgetting, or may have been to young to know, but Prince is, and always has been, widely regarded as a sex symbol. As in, his numbers are pretty damn high, if you are following here.

No worries they operate at a loss, no need for any taxes :)

This is great; prince the supposed "artist" obviously doesn't have a clue what he is doing. Just give him enough rope to hang himself and his terrible music will cease to exist.

Do they? I heard somewhere (I can't remember, so I don't know how credible it is) that they are grossing $70,000+/month.

2014.11.2007 08:04

I really hope Prince goes all out to sink Pirate Bay. He really should pour as much resources into it as possible.

Then when he fails it will hopefully knock him down a bit :)

Anyway isn't this the same Prince who GAVE AWAY his last album?

Stupid stupid man.

2114.11.2007 13:07

What's he so bitter about? He's probably fed up with all the parody and bad impersonation!

2214.11.2007 14:20

He's probably mad at society for dropping him, which is mostly because of his type of music.

LOL! I think you're right! Now, he's trying to make his boring life psychedelic by pursuing P2P sites!

4 things I'd say to Prince.

1) Get over yourself, you're only making a t*t of yourself.

2) You stopped needing more money a long time ago. Like many bands have realised the big money isn't in CD/DVD sales (the companies get most of that) it's in merchandise & touring.

3) Wake up to the new reality, you're happy enough to have all your songs played 'free' over the airwaves (and the new DAB radios can record perfect digital copies and be copied from) so wake up & go with it.

4) You aren't Jimi Hendrix no matter how much you wish it were so.

....and I bet he'd be really devastated. lol

Devastated? Psh, ya right. He would just sue you; possibly for defacing his image by bring those to light.

To go after people who adore him just makes no sense to me. These people are his true fans and he takes them down? I would never buy another album from any of my favorite artists if they ever pulled that one.

As for TPB, I feel sorry that he is going to expend so much time, energy and $$$ for that. He needs better legal counsel. Even if he wins, at what cost? He's already alienated any true fans he did have. When is this going to end?

Lets hope for his sake that he is more succesful than his music career, the mans a joke!

3016.11.2007 21:19

The way I picture this scene.

TPB is sitting on an enormously high chair with a light shining down only on Prince and his lawyers. They present a case which TPB answers by saying "no", and opening a trap door into another dimension. :)

Live or die, support the hydra!

3116.11.2007 22:01

I think Gene Simmons and Prince need to get together and F!_!Ck one another.

The man(?) is talking out of his(?) ass, he needs to read up on Swedish law which the Pirate Bay's lawyers know much better than him. I would be seriously surprised if he got anywhere with this.

On a side note: you guys who say that he's alienating his fans with these actions, seem to forget that there will always be enough sheep to buy his crap no matter what, enough anyway to keep his stupid ass rich. Unfortunately. I'd love to see the guy do a daily job.

332.12.2007 18:27

the reason why prince is doing this is because he can not make good music anymore so hence he is trying to make as much money from the old stuff he has done. stop wasting your time with thi prince and create more music.
