PS3 firmware 2.30 adds support for DTS-HD Master Audio

PS3 firmware 2.30 adds support for DTS-HD Master Audio The next update for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) console from Sony Corp., v2.30, expected to arrive next week, will add support for the DTS-HD Master Audio format, much to the delight of audiophiles. The upcoming firmware update is publicized more for improvements it has in store for the PlayStation Store platform.
The PlayStation Store will move away from being a web-access driven service on the console to a proprietary application, providing navigational improvements and better download times. However, for a better Blu-ray experience, the inclusion of support for DTS-HD Master Audio will be treat all-around.

The console was criticized by audiophiles at first for the absence of support for the lossless format, which provides a perfect compressed recording of the original master recording. The lack of support for DTS-HD was enough motivation for many early adopters of Blu-ray to choose more expensive stand-alone Blu-ray hardware.

As long as it is Sony and some people can't afford to buy it...They will always find a problem.

I think next issue will be the color.

I don't think that's why everyone complains. Most people complain because they think Sony is very anti consumer, not because they can't afford it. Why are you guys even trying to start more arguments, nobody even said anything bad about Sony?

ok nobody said nothing bad about your beloved sony and you still got something very dumb to say, these sony lovers are truely a rare case of you know what.the ps3 is a very good console but its not the only ticket in town.its not for evreybody some people like the others better and cant afford has nothing to do with it.after all it only 50.00 bucks more than a 360 pro so i think if a person want a ps3 over a xbox they can swing the extra 50.00 bucks i dont know rich boys tell me what you think about that.can the world afford 50.00 STINKIN BUCKS or just YOU

If they are so anti consumer, explain to me this...
Why are they selling a PS3? a system that they lose hundreds of dollars for every unit sold...
Nobody talk bullshit about Wii... Nintendo wii is the console that offer less for the buck, they have been making profit since day 1(costing amost nothing to put together a NGC and a New controller) for $250 , and is the only console that haven't had a price cut since it was launched...
Thats anti consumer right there! Focking idiots!

Good to see that Sony giving the update for DTS-HD Master Audio my surround sound been waiting on this much needed update.

1311.4.2008 21:00

ANY further discussion referencing fanboys or DRM in a thread that is SUPPOSED to be about the addition of DTS-HD or the PS3's firmware 2.30 will get a temp ban....for starters.
