GTA IV will sell 10+ million copies, says Take-Two

GTA IV will sell 10+ million copies, says Take-Two Analysts in the US have predicted that over 9 million copies of the blockbuster game GTA IV will ship during this financial year.
The game's developer Take-Two however, has stated that analysts are wrong and the game will do even better than any prediction. Since its release last week, the game has seen almost unanimous straight 10 scores from reputable gaming websites and critics all seem to agree it is one of the best games ever made.

Take-Two's CEO Ben Feder told Reuters: "Our expectations are very high, higher than analysts give the game credit for.

"All the analysts had a (sales) number, give or take, and I think we will be on the upside of that rather than the downside."

Good luck Take-Two.

are they even planning on a pc version, if they are i dont think the sales will be so great on the pc side of things, you would have to have one hell of a setup to get it to run smooth

43.5.2008 20:46

Yeah this game is awesome and everyone and their moms own it. The sales will blow analysts off their asses.

Same here! But its there when I need it lol

104.5.2008 01:40

wow I'm the exact same way. haha.
i've done a few missions at a time every like 2 days.
can't make the time.

114.5.2008 01:44

Lol this game is good enough to piss me off to the point of breaking my PS3 controller.

I was doing this long mission and just when I was gonna get out i get totaled by 6 cop cars and shot to death before I could even open the door . I just smashed the thing. Misplaced everything. Had to get the good ol' Phillips head out and fixed all of the buttons :)

Normally, most games I would never do this but this one... Even yesterday, I threw my BT headset at the wall because it kept turning off while I was online and I wouldn't know it, and so after about the 17th time of me holding the on button for 5 seconds and waiting for it to connect to my PS3 and lag the game and beep 3 times, I just lost it. The shell flew right off... Put everything back into place and again it still works... But I'm definitely buying a new one. I've had enough with this Jabra BS(I have the headset that supposedly comes with the Warhawk package, I don't recommend it)!

Anyways, great game. Definitely beat my expectations :)

i know that definitely means "yes" as its not a flat out no, and the november date seems about right for the holiday sales.

i want to choose my own resolution, join unofficial servers and have user generated content. And not be ripped of by the console brigade, m$ and sony seem to think that charging for an extra maps, guns or vehicles via their on-line marketing and selling channels (psn/xmb(dashboard?)) is acceptable, for content that has always been FREE.

It seems that there is a temporary fix for the PS3 GTA4 lockups

GTA IV Lockup Solution: Disabling PSN?

Originally posted by hyper:
Reader Captain Duck spotted a possible fix in the Something Awful forums: Disable your access to the Playstation Network. SA Goons (an accredited rank in GTA: Vice City) surmise that the game is looking for multiplayer connections "every two minutes or so," and if something is wrong there, voila, lockups.

Kotaku doesn't vouch for the efficacy of this measure on all consoles but the SA commenters sure do:

"THIS TOTALLY Works."

"Yep, until they patch it, disabling internet access on the PS3 seems to do the job. It has worked fine for me, helped with a lot of the frustration I was having. Thanks guys"

Forums at GameFAQs and GameSpot seem to back it up too.

Looking at the date stamps to the comments, I realize this is about three days late, and I hope I'm not advertising something everyone already knows as breaking news. If you guys already figured this out in the comments, good on ya.

But ... in the interest of useful info, there you go. Also, if anyone has different freeze problems or solutions, hit up the comments.

Freezes - in two flavours, "intro scene" berry and "random" bananarama [Something Awful forums]

Note: You'll need a full acount to see more than the first page.

Update: Thanks to commenter zimzombie for the swell borked image redo. He's right, Chef totally needs a gun.
So the report home data gathering could be to blame. Isn't it great that sony is keeping tabs on YOUR every click! And ppl are worried about Phorn (Pdf) when we have Sony gathering data on our kids.

well from the few hours of play i have had, gta4 is just GTA san andreas with slight visual improvements over the pc ver of san andreas (running at 1920 by 1200 resolution, (gta4 runs at 720p HD on 360 & 640 onPS3)) but not as engaging as san adreas, and the constant needless fmv is annoying, i want to PLAY a game not watch it.

nowhere near completion but its just more of the same imo, anyone know if they have actually removed planes or is this fud because of the twin towers 9/11?

Nobrainer.....you need to play it a bit longer. IMO, It is much better than San Andreas. The combat system is way better than any of the GTAs yet. The story is actually pretty good too. You just need to put a few more hours into it. Then you will understand where I am coming from :-) Some of the cool things are few along in the game. While the game is not perfect(because truly nothing is) it is a really really good game. Besides, it is a "jack of all trades" sort of game. You can do a lot of different things. You shouldn't expect each of those things to be perfect. But then again, to each there own. :-)

224.5.2008 21:34

I wish you could tune cars and buy different houses and fly planes like you could in San Andreas... I also liked the map better... San Andreas's story was also slightly better, but not by much. They are both very good.

Still a very good introduction to the new generation of consoles :)

Oh and thank God for the classic controls... I don't now what I would do without them! These new ones are really crap! Like, some things benifit but there's more negatives then positives on the list. I also don't trally like how they've included the Sixaxis... Seems like it would take a while to get used to, but it makes driving boats really fun... So easy to handle :D

235.5.2008 01:45

Yeah I kinda figured the game would freeze because of how much is in the game and how much you can do. It did it twice on the ps3 and once on the 360. It happed in the beginning though.

Agreed, its a good game don't get me wrong worth the $60 but it is absolutely by no means a 10/10. I want to know how the heck them managed all those bloated scored across the boards, you cant to even a quarter of the stuff you could in San Andreas and its quite disheartening because I was looking forward to all that customization and skill level stuff again.

255.5.2008 01:52

reviews are paid to pad the PR machine of the game/film.

I'll GTA 4 the credit of polishing the gmaepaly alil and bringing in a new story and city, its not my kind of game but its definitely no worse than SA or GTA3.

Well they must keep some staff as a downloadable content,
This game is a big fat cow that has to be milked out to the very last drop.

275.5.2008 15:47

I can't see that being some sort of downloadable extension... Sounds like a lot...
