PSP outsells all other consoles in Japan for April

According to game magazine publisher Enterbrain the Sony PSP outsold all game consoles in Japan handily for the month of April including 2-to-1 sales over its main rival, the Nintendo DS.
For the four weeks ended April 27th, PSP unit sales came to 380,867 units, beating DS sales of 169,911 units. However, in the bigger picture, the Nintendo Wii outsold the Sony PlayStation 3 by a 5-to-1 margin, a margin larger than usual.

Nintendo moved 187,121 units of the Wii for the month, compared to only 37,676 units of the PS3.

GTAIV won't be released in Japan this month and even when it does come over there it won't do much to affect sales.

I never got why people are so concerned with sales numbers in Japan.

I think this has to to do with the release of FF7 Crisis Core. I bought a psp to play the game as well.

^Same here. I'd been thinking about getting one. FF Crisis Core was the little push i needed to pick one up.

and the sales are doing good because they can install the hacked firmware on there psp handhelds and play illegally downloaded games this is only why the console is doing good have you ever noticed how if a console can be hacked to run illegal games how quick the sales of that console take off look at the nintendo ds

Who did $ony bribe to do this feat ?

This has nothing to do with Crisis Core, CC was released in Japan long before it hit America, as usual. If anything it has to do with Monster Hunter Portable G 2, which sold by the bucket load when it got released. Also, the DS is in the hands of somewhere around 1 in 4 people in Japan. So the only place it has to go is down. Now people are moving on the PSP and it is selling strong, because of that game.
