Dell Android smartphone headed to the US?

Dell Android smartphone headed to the US? The formerly Chinese-exclusive Dell Mini 3i Android smartphone is headed to the US, says CrunchGear, with the phone hitting American shores before the end of the year.
The source says the phone will likely be upgraded however, before it is released in the US, as the Chinese version felt "cheap." Among the upgrades will be a 5MP camera, compared to the current 3MP camera.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Android stack for the Mini is missing a few key libraries and therefore many current apps do not work.

Specifications and pictures after the break.

The specs:
* Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE class 12
* Size: 68.6cc
* 103g grams weight
* Dimensions: 58 x 122 x 11.7mm
* Display: 3.5″ nHD 640×360 LCD, 18-bit, 262K colors
* OTA capable
* Microsoft Exchange support
* Google, AIM, Yahoo and MSN IM support
* 3 megapixel auto-focus, flash, 8x digital zoom camera with 30fps video shooting mode, built in photo editor
* USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

this phone has garbage hardware and lacking software. The bigger news today is the formal announcement of the instinctQ or "moment" from samsung.

They are going need to AT LEAST add 3g support and wifi. Horribly underpowered smart phone, if it can be called that.

You know what's crazy? The fact that so many cellphone makers - including dell, as we all see - are imitating the iphone. That stupid dell phone looks just like the iphone. Why can't cellphone makers just be original and come up with original designs? Why imitate? Those that imitate look very bad, in my judgement.

Looks 2 me as dell tried so hard to copy apple they even left out 3g suppot like the Gen1 ifone. hahha

However im not so sure that everyone is copying apple, HTC had been making phones with that sort of format for a long time.. all apple did was put it in a shiny ipod like case and took away all the buttons and the ability to remove the battery.

In my opinion there are only so many ways you can make a phone. Especially if it's touch screen. So they are bound to be many that look similar. And remember this phone was intended for china so it's not surprising that it's lacking features as other phones sold there are.
