Xbox LIVE Avatar Marketplace adds digital pets

According to a recent press release, Microsoft will be updating the Xbox LIVE Avatar Marketplace on December 3rd to add avatar pets allowing users to finally have that pony they have always wanted.
The price? 240 MS points.

The software giant says users can also get a “Chocobo” as a pet for a limited time, as long as they register via a Final Fantasy XIII page here: Xbox.com/FFXIII page

The pets available at launch are:

Large Dog
Pug Dog
Dog in Bag
Cat
Siamese Cat
Long Haired Cat
Goldfish
Guinea Pig
Pony
Monkey
Bird
Snake

I wonder just how much money MS has made with people spending points. More than half the stuff that people use for points should be free, considering we have to pay for Live + game(s) + Console + accessories.

W....T....F, i'd expect this from nintendo, but........this sounds pretty gay, at least nintendo probably wouldn't charge for crap like this.

I don't wanna picky (just pedantic!) but I reckon that kid's Korean, not Chinese...
He's in an E-Mart shopping bag which is a large Wal-Mart style shopping chain in South Korea...
Of course it could be a Chinese boy living in Korea, then conviently packaged in the bag...
I wonder if there is a shrink wrapped version...?

Want a pet but don't want to fork out the cash...
Hopefully we can unlock mini-dragons in games...
