Apple crushes quarterly earnings, promises new products this year Yesterday, after the market closed, Apple crushed their quarterly earnings, having its best quarter ever.
Apple reported revenue of $15.7 billion, a 62 percent jump, year-on-year (YoY). Analysts had expected revenue of $14.75 billion for the quarter.

Net profit rose to $3.25 billion a massive 78 percent jump YoY.

While the numbers were impressive, most fans were more intrigued by Apple's implication that it was releasing multiple new products by the end of the year.

Said CEO Steve Jobs: "It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around. And we have amazing new products still to come this year."

Jobs stopped there, but the comments have gotten the rumor mill in full swing. Most believe the new products are a rehauled iPod Touch with multiple cameras and a completely rehauled Apple TV.

.....why does fanboys like to buy apple? i wonder....they got too much money to spent.

So, the lesson here is what? Make crap... pretend it's the greatest thing ever and even make claims to be "first" when it's not... and if you say it loud enough to a gullible enough audience then you'll make tons of money from the sheeple?

what ever the strategy, you have to give it up to them, they know how to make money and run a business. I don't think many companies in the world can measure up to them, and overall their PR ad marketing is simply genius.

wonder what their next quarter is going to be like after the iphone fiasco.

521.7.2010 23:16

They launched the 3G iPad and the iPhone4 in the same quarter; both with massive sales...and both designed to sell as many iTunes rentals as possible. It is amazing what people will buy.

...And yes, if you say it often enough and loud enough, anything will become the truth. It applies to corporations, governments, and even situations like the relationship between two people.

Not only that, but there are a lot of people out there that refuse to read even a 1 page article before buying a $700 iPad...all they want is the new gizmo...and they won't be using it; these are the kind of people who seriously considered hanging wall clocks from their necks after rappers started doing it.

Good job apple maybe now theyll give it a rest with the 3000% markup on there items probably not maybe even higher now that everyone is buying there stuff. I got a few ipods for example as well as other brands and cant justify paying apples prices when there is so many other companies that have the same product basically sometimes better but normally a few hundred dollars cheaper.

Apple's hardware profit margins are actually only slightly higher than most other tech hardware companies (like only 2-5%, in most cases).

i have actually pulled apart alot of apple shit (i repair comps the old fashioned way with good soldering etc) and i can say apple have hardware has a 100% mark up on there least profitable item (ipad) on the low models but as you go up in models there profit jumps the iphone is one of there most profitable items sold unlocked but most are sold to carriers so profit is just above 100% ipod touch has a very high percent profit margin but maintains a same level of profit throughout there makes amazingly but apple do get a share in itunes sales and this does make there profit increase so a high proft margin from apple is nothing special especially since they do market to idiots there laptops and desktops have the hightest profit per item but not percentage as most base models from apple new of course cost $1500+ apple software does cost a fortune to buy as well not a good thing they do just sucker in idiots

as ive learned through my job the world seems to consit of about 80% of pure dumbass's and about 92% of just general dumbness not very many people actually know whats really in these things they use foxconn parts people i never ever ever will use foxconn ive built a laptop for customer once using foxconn and regreated it as it broke after 6 months of course i fixed it for free but its broke alot of times now and ive repaired nothing but foxconn boards they are cheap and nasty chinese stuff i prefer Taiwan owned stuff like gigabyte as quality control is of the best and they are always certified in every manor were as foxconn not so much

infact ive never ever repaired one single gigabyte board yet and i dont honestly think i will

how uneducated. Just because you have used a solder doesn't mean you know the price of the components. A simple google will tell you that apple make the iphone (and or ipad) for under $200.

now they sell it to carriers for god knows how much lets say $400, so yeah a 100% markup. Now consider this; the parts cost $200, but then factor in labour (albeit it cheap in china), shipping from there to the states, taxes at customs, labour in the US, shipping, paying higher end employees, RnD for it, and overall im sure that 100% starts to dwindle. By how much, who knows it may only be 20% but still, apple it a company, its primary focus is to make money. When there is demand for a product, and people are willing to pay for a premium, then who in their right mind would turn down extra money?

also, do you think that everyone who buys their products are sheep/idiots? I mean really? Just because they can afford it and do buy it doesn't make them mad. Some people have grown up with apple and are used to that. Lots of people rarely venture outside their comfort zones, and if they find apple products to be that comfort who are you to say they are wrong. Some people prefer no hassle, and really more times than not macosx and ios are pretty much hassle free, and if not their support after sales is pretty damn good. Lots off people pay the extra to not have to go through trouble. Amd that happens in all walks of life, not just withtech. Why make your own food, when at a cost you can buy a ready meal? Why make your own clothes? Why bother making coffee when you can go starbucks etc. Do you call all those people idiots aswell? I'm sure not, and right fully so, so why is it okay to call people who buy apple products that? What harm is it doing to you if people spend their money how they want?

as for the foxconn thing, you realise the GB mobos you buy are packed to the brim with foxconn products? The cpu socket, the pci and pcie slots, the usb headers, some of this chips that other companies make that are on the mobo, possibley the assembley, not to mention everyday, you use foxcon products without even thinking. Most, if not all phones, tv remotes, tvs, etc etc. Anything really to do with any electronics will have a foxconn link somewhere.

Apple has said in the past their profit margins (on some items is as high as 55 percent), and on others, (likely Macs) is as low as 5. Regardless, they make a killing.

As do many many other companies, so people shouldn't buy ANYTHING if they're concerned about how much profit a company is making on it.
