Netflix to pay $100,000 per episode to play in-season TV shows?

The New York Post has reported today that Netflix is prepared to pay up to $100,000 per episode for the ability to stream in-season TV shows, such as current episodes of hits like "Glee" and "The Office."
If accurate, the move will position Netflix next to Hulu as the premier destination to view TV episodes from current running seasons.

In October, Netflix announced it had signed a deal with NBCU to bring full back catalogs of hit shows like "30 Rock," "The Office," and others to the streaming service, as well as a deal that gives Netflix the right to stream "Saturday Night Live" the day after it airs on TV.

Netflix recently began offering a streaming-only service for $8 per month in the U.S., the first time the company has offered a deal that does not include physical media rentals.

The company has spent close to $1 billion on streaming rights over the past years, placing a big bet on the future of streaming.

a bet that will pay off in the long run im thinking. .with people being able to conect their computers to their television with a hdmi card and cable.i think its just more convenient to rent Medea from streaming it than renting a physical disk.different peple different opinions.

It would be awesome if a netflix device could just replace cable. Even if netflix streaming costed a bit more; cable costs a fortune.

There are plenty of devices capable of streaming Netflix nowadays. The Xbox 360 and PS3 can do HD streaming while the Wii can stream SD. Numerous blu-ray players are being sold with the ability to stream as well. In addition, some web enabled TV sets are coming out with Netflix streaming capabilities built in.

only if Bill Maher and msnbc would jump on the streaming wagon would I kill cable. I would make a bet that by 2020 I'd be streaming netfix. The future is very interesting with the big money at hand internet ready tv's netfix and hulu.

It looks like when cable offered high speed internet service they were opening Padora's Box. Everything looks bleak for their future, except they still have hope.

Netflix is a using predatory market tactics with it's disc prices, while taking a modest profit from streaming in order to monopolize the market for streaming.
Just wait...you'll see.
