Apple to sell 4 million iPhone 4S this weekend

Apple to sell 4 million iPhone 4S this weekend Bloomberg is reporting today that Apple is on pace to sell up to 4 million iPhone 4S this weekend, the first weekend of availability.
The phone went on sale today in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the U.K. and will easily outpace last year's 1.7 million iPhone 4 sold in the first weekend.

That figure is not too surprising, however, as the iPhone 4S is now available on three of the major carriers in the U.S.; Sprint, AT&T and Verizon. Last year's June launch was only for A&T.

While the average estimate is for 2.5 million sold, Yankee Group analyst Carl Howe set the high with 4 million.

As with past releases, all Apple stores had lines that filled the block with eager buyers.

The news has sent Apple's stock to within pennies of its all-time high at $422 per share, up 14 percent since the death of founder and former CEO Steve Jobs.

Another reason they're selling more than before is probably because they actually manufactured enough supply to meet demand this time. Most of the stores that I went to today had them in stock at least until around closing time. Last year with the 4 some people didn't get their phones for over a month after launch.

Greedy? yah cuz it's the CEO's job to not make his company millions by whatever means.

No...his job is to make them BILLIONS by any means, including breaking the law...it is actually law that they have to break the law if it is in the interest of the stockholders...at least in the states.

I am glad they are selling lots of these things...anyone that still supports Apple deserve to get stuck in a 2-year contract with a 3G phone.

I'll wait till "comsumer reports" says if the phone has good reception. Many users will overlook the poor reception and say its the greatest phone they ever had. I want proof, i demand it, I dont want to put a bumper on a phone just so I can make a phonecall, i just wont do it. It looks good on the commercial, its beauty is enticing I must admit.
