PlayStation Vita will not have Flash support at launch

According to a Japanese report, the upcoming Sony PlayStation Vita handheld will not have Flash support at launch.
The device will have HTML5 support, however, along with JavaScript 1.7 and cookies.

While Flash may not be supported at launch, the report suggests it could be added in a later firmware update.

The original PSP faced a similar problem, and basic support was only added a year later via firmware.

The Vita will run on an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core processor and be powered by a quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU.

Featuring a 5-inch capacitive multitouch OLED screen (with 16 million colors), the device will be 7.16 by 0.73 by 3.28 inches. Furthermore, the Vita has 512MB memory and 128MB VRAM in its graphics processor.

Replace "handhelds" with "electronics".

you don't need to hack ps3 to use flash since it supports it in the first place.

No, but you do need to hack the PS3 in order to use the features that it came with.

Good. Flash is a bloated POS platform for content delivery. It needs to die when PCs that play the newest games without trouble, struggle with animations with many objects on the screen.

Flash runs on my f**king phone...give the inefficiency argument a rest; you sound like Steve Jobs on a bad day. Next you will tell me that I am holding my phone wrong.

Youtube has a number of different formats, html5, mp4, flv etc

It won't affect sales. People aren't going to care about watching their latest porn videos on these handhelds. I don't even recall the last time I needed flash on my old iPhone, it's really been a while. I would still like the option to turn it on/off but I'm fine without it. The Vita might get it later. I mean we all remember how the Xoom did without flash at launch, right?

For me flash is highly important if browsing...
