Microsoft: No talk of next console 'anytime soon'

Microsoft: No talk of next console 'anytime soon' Microsoft has announced today that it will not be announcing its Xbox sequel "anytime soon."
Says Microsoft Corporate Communications chief Frank Shaw: "While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360."

The Xbox 360 has remained a constant winner over the past year, beating out rivals Nintendo and Sony handily. Last month, Microsoft sold 426,000 Xbox 360 units, beating out the Wii at 228,000 units. Sony did not disclose PS3 sales.

Microsoft's yet un-named Xbox successor is codenamed 'Durango,' say sources.

Among the rumors about the Xbox successor are that the system will play Blu-ray discs, catching up to Sony 7 years after the launch of the PS3. Another is the notion that Microsoft will "incorporate some sort of anti-used game system" in the new console. It is unclear how this system would work, but it will likely not be foolproof, regardless. Additionally, Microsoft is likely to launch the console with the Kinect 2 motion control system including a built-in processor. The processor would allow the Kinect to process motions more accurately and smoother.

Finally, the console is rumored to use a touchscreen controller, just like the upcoming Wii U.

Nintendo needs a back up plan in ms coming out with touch pad controller as well... they should make different types of controller that way all their games doesn't have to use motion sensor.

No used games? I think that may just push people into pirating more games come the next generation. Although there was also talk of Microsoft using a solid state system with there next system, perhaps that's their counter measure

No used games? I'll just stop with the 360 and see what Sony has to offer then.

PS4 that allows PS3 games to play back limited sale ... I hope so and they should allow us to play back ps3 that way we can still play ps3 games online with ps4 while waiting for more games to come out... MS always wants people to buy their new gaming consoles, at least make a console where people can choose to play 360 on new consoles or not...

It really makes no sense if 360 doesn't work on the new consoles since lots of Kinect games are on the 360 and I doubt that not everyone will want to upgrade to Kinect2 anytime soon when the history might repeats itself with rrod.
