Sony says no Vita price cut this year

Sony says no Vita price cut this year Although the PS Vita has struggled to keep steady sales, Sony has confirmed there will be no price cut this year for the handheld.
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida did say that engineers are working on significantly cutting manufacturing costs, which will eventually lead to a price cut. However, when asked about 2012, Yoshida says "It's too early."

Adds the president: "At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles. We announced we will provide LittleBigPlanet PS Vita bundle pack. That's affordable for people who are looking for a good deal."

Recently, the company admitted that third-party support for the console is almost non-existent, which has led to a slow trickle of new "must-have" games.

However, at this year's Gamescom event, Sony unveiled a few flagship titles that gamers seem to be excited for, which should help the company sells some more handhelds.

The overall picture remains Sony needs a price cut on their Vita, but there will not be one this year.

Still not enough to push sells. Mabye if they set it as so you buy the PS3 game you get the vita game free, that with dropping the price 100$ they would make a killing.

Sony and its japanese benefactors are smart enough to know, America not buying fast enough does not mean its not worth the price. Sony is not walmart. They are not trying to give you the cheapest thing around.. and I dont want the cheapest thing around.. does anyone appreciate quality over quantity. Im glad they dont give in to this cheap ass country and just lower the price and cheapen themselves so quick. Makes the product look bad also.

Sony needs to drop the price by $100 This YEAR. They could turn the VITA back into a great idea if they do it now with the holidays coming up soon. Also before the release of any new consoles. Otherwise I'm sure the Vita will turn out to be like the NEO-GEO Pocket and SEGA 32X. SONY is coming off like SEGA.

Nah I picked up a 3DS for $140 last Christmas... Price point seems good to me, but I've been out of the current gaming scene for a few years now. I wish there was a catalog good enough to get me back in, or at least advertised well enough...

And I'm not talking over-hyped mainstream blockbusters.

The 3DS is a joke, the WII U is a joke....those things harken back to the 32X and Saturn ><

Tho I am with you, I don't game much anymore, I stick to 10-20$ deals on ebay. Picked up Xeno blade and Last Story on the WII ^^ and 4 360 games for 10$ Vanquish,Dark Void,Halo ODST and FF13 for the PS3.

Sadly I got SHadows of the damned for 30....but I knew it sucked I got it for the crappy style more than anything else LOL

This thing is just too expensive. Why buy this when you can get a ps3 for the same price. Sure with the 3Ds price you can buy a wii but the 3Ds produces games that are fun. The vita has too much useless features like that touch panel in the back just makes no sense. Release a version with some of these features removed and they should be good.

The Vita's are just not selling in the US and I think by Christmas time Sony will have to wake up and drop their prices, otherwise they won't be selling over the holiday season and Sony will lose even more money then they are now.

Sad because they are very nice with great features especially if you own a PS3 and had a PSP.

Possibly because if you want to play PS3 games on the go? Last I checked a PS3 didn't work well in a airplane or a car or on the go for that matter.

Sony must like pissing their money away.....

I think it is arrogance mostly. They make some very good products but think they are better than they really are some times.
