Apple to sell unlocked iPhone 5 starting at $649

Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 5 will be sold unlocked in the U.S., although those looking for a non-contract device will have to wait a little bit longer.
You will not be able to pre-order an unlocked device tomorrow when the phone is made available for release on the 21st. Additionally, the unlocked model will not be available online or in-store on the 21st, either.

Pricing was revealed, however, with the base model selling for $649 and going up to $849 for the 64GB model.

Apple says the unlocked phone will be available in "the next several weeks" but with no set date.

The company unveiled the phone yesterday with a thinner frame, a 4-inch screen, a new A6 processor and LTE support.

Keep it! I'll wait for the Iphone 5s+ jr. For them to work off all the bugs.

They could keep it if it was free. No, I take that back...I'm sure I could make good use of that Samsung screen in some project...

Or we could wait for people to jailbreak it too.

Or we could just not get it at all.

what a rip off, I may as well get a new laptop with this money they are asking for a phone that offers little to almost nothing.

I don't think Samsung makes them or as much anymore. There pushing their Amoled. I figured LG and sharp are making them. But still, the ear pods at least look different and more modern than this iPhone.

No, claiming it is the best thing ever and that android sucks because the screens are bigger would make you a troll...if you actually want one, get one (or wait to get one). If you just like how it looks with the small screen and everything, you could also get an old Samsung, although I am not sure you will be able to find a screen that small in anything with LTE.

Agree a 100%; or just trow it away in the garbage!

I remember when a Troll used to be a mythical creature that ate goats that tip toed over bridges before paying their taxes & a Flamer was a device/soldier used in combat literally torch other combatants out of hiding in thick brush or dense hiding areas.

To think, if time travel were possible, we can only go back 600 years before English would indiscernible. Yet we don't have to even go back 20 years & wonder why people are still paying outrageous sums of cash for Apple products.

Besides, 'unlocked'? How long will that last before they start yelling, "Take Backs!" or "Deals Off!"

Spent 100USD on my unlocked Samsung Fathom. More "PHONE" than I need!
