LG 55-inch OLED TV priced and dated for U.S.

LG has announced that its 55-inch OLED HDTV will hit the U.S. in March, a slight delay from its original expected release date.
U.S. marketing chief James Fishler says the TV will cost $12,000 retail, in-line with expectations from other existing OLED models.

LG first announced the set at last CES, winning awards, but ultimately it was delayed due to manufacturing hiccups.

OLED TVs offer frames 50 percent thinner than even the thinnest LED TVs and also offer the blackest blacks and sharpest colors. OLED are used in most smartphones but manufacturing large displays have proven difficult.

It doesnt matter how thin the TV is, after a certain point it is irrelevant. You watch the front of it not the side.

But people and neighbors will always gasp at how thin it is and they'll stare and walk around the other side to make sure its as thin on the other side.

And potentially think of ways to break in to steal it as they come to realize the TV would not weigh much.

Yes, it's cool but unless they have an innovative way to hang it on a wall or have an ultra thin stable base as well it is pretty pointless to go from half an inch thick to a quarter inch thick.

The other problem with super thin is all the inputs are down on the base instead of behind the TV. There is much more room on the TV itself than the base.
