One ambassador wants to stop 'Game of Thrones' piracy Jeff Bleich, the U.S. Ambassador to Australia has made it his mission to stop 'Game of Thrones' piracy.
Coinciding with the annual UN World Book and Copyright Day, Bleich urged fans of the show to stop illegally downloading the show. He even went as far as to say that the huge amounts of piracy is "as epic and devious as the drama."

The file-sharing news website TorrentFreak estimated that Game of Thrones was the most-pirated TV series of 2012. One episode was illegally downloaded about 4,280,000 times through public BitTorrent trackers in 2012, which is about equal to the number of that episode's broadcast viewers. In other words, about half of that episode's viewers stole the program from HBO.

Bleich also noted that Australians are the biggest pirates of the show, mainly thanks to a delayed broadcast in the nation.

HBO, and the GoT cast, don't really seem to mind the piracy.

Aren't there worse things in this world that he should be concerned about. Especially since the creators and the producers have publicly stated that the Piracy is not really a concern.

In other words they're not actually 'pirates' at all, merely people wishing to view the show at a time of their choosing.

This is no different to videoing a show overnight or when you're out.

Why are people who download something they will get anyway on their regular TV called 'pirates'?
It's laughable nonsense.

What I find funny is that an ambassador of all people is concerned with Game of Thrones piracy. It sounds more like a desperate attempt at grabbing a headline than a genuine concern.

HBO and GoT don't care because free advertising costs nothing.

And nobody stole anything. It's 2013 and even the most basic of terms still aren't understood among politicians.

Guess it's pretty evident which "lobbies" are lining the pockets of people in government, huh? Could these morons be anymore transparent?
I've never seen the show, but maybe I'll check it out. I'll download it legally of course;)

it is well known fact that piracy actually helps sales rather than throttles it. he, therefore, can't stop it.

The Ambassador in question is Jeffrey Bleich, who was a partner at the firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson (Entertainment Industry Lawyers), who represent Warner Home Video the studio behind Game of Thrones.

Conflict of interest much, asshole?

The copyright cartel doesn't sell or show content outside the US in-time to protect their licensing model. They are causing the piracy.
