PlayStation 4 to support less controllers than Xbox One

Earlier this week Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will support up to eight controllers.
Unfortunately, for Sony fans, the PlayStation 4 cannot match that kind of party. The company has confirmed the upcoming console will support four controllers.

The news is somewhat surprising, as even the PS3 supports up to seven controllers.

With the rise and ease of multiplayer online gaming, the news should not be a deal-breaker but may be an annoyance for some.

Better start getting those 200 inch TVs, or get a projector. This could be useful for turn-based games like golf or bowling, but for any game requiring a split screen, this would be a total nightmare.

For any kind of real "multiplayer" you either need to play online (which only requires one controller), or, hook up multiple XBOX One(s) together, and do a "LAN" that way, if that is even allowed anymore, which would only really require one controller.

If I'm playing shooters, or anything team based, I like to have the whole real estate of the screen, or at the most, split 2 ways.

Maybe if they made a new Fuzion Frenzy.

Not a deal breaker for me in any shape or form. Anything more than 2-plyr split screen kinda sucks. And I have a 70" LED. I cannot even begin to imagine playing COD with an 8-way split. lol Might be okay for D&D style Diablo stuff, but even then, 8 local players makes for a crowded living room.

More beanbag chairs...??

Exactly, what sort of TV/screen are you playing 8-way multiplayer on? Jesus.

The title should read ps4 to support FEWER controllers and not LESS controllers. The concept is simple.
If you can count an object in units, you need to use the word FEWER as a modifier.
If you cannot count an object in units, you need to use the modifier LESS.

Not me and seriously I can't image the confusion of more than 4 players on one screen. I don't like playing two even.

Here's an idea...Add support for more than one screen for multi player and games in general!
