Best Buy drops the price of the iPhone 5C just two weeks after launch Just two weeks after the phone launched, Best Buy has already dumped the price of the Apple iPhone 5C.
Until October 7th, the device will sell for $50 with contract after using a gift card, a 50 percent discount from its MSRP.

With all new purchases, customers will get a $50 gift card that can be applied to the same purchase. The gift card deal is also extended to Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

"We view ourselves as a company that offers consumers something they can't get anywhere else -- all the phones, all the plans, all the carriers -- and look for any opportunity to delight our customers," says Sandra Tollefson, a Best Buy official.

Walmart and Target have already dropped the price of the devices, to $79 with contract.

When offering a product that is hard to find most retailers would increase the price to meet demand. Their statement seems to completely contradict this established marketing strategy.

So wait... does this mean that you can purchase it for $50 AND get a $50 gift card to BestBuy? Essentially making the phone free?

Or... is this a deal where you can use the $50 gift card to essentially pay only $50 for the phone, but the pre-purchase cost is still the normal $99?

I looked up the site and this news is completely wrong.

Samsung mobiles are $49 on a 2 year contract and you get a $50 gift card.

The apple 5c 16gig phones are $99 2 year contract and a $50 gift card so you could make the phone $49 for the first month.

These seem to be on a at&t plan only as well.

Whereas the 5c 32gig $199 are on a sprint plan for $49 a month.

You get a gift card with these phone it could be a special price if you use their credit card I guess.

The samsung phone have been dropped to $49 a month on most phones and still get a $50 gift card.

What? The phone is $99 and you get a $50 gift card that can be applied to the purchase of the phone, exactly like the article says.
