Naughty America to begin shooting porn in 4K

Naughty America, a maker of pornographic films, has begun shooting their latest material in UltraHD 4K resolution.
UltraHD offers a resolution of 3840 x 2160, double the current 1080p standard.

4K was the big theme of this year's CES event, with all the big boys unveiling new 4K TVs or deals to stream 4K content in 2014.

Both Amazon and Netflix also noted that their upcoming original content would be filmed in 4K. Sony also launched its own 4K video download service with over 140 older titles.

CEO Andreas Hronopoulos says the company is investing hundreds of thousands, and the investment is the largest ever for the smaller company. If the standard does not take off as expected, the company could go under. There are certainly high barriers to entry in 4K, as a standard 4K video can be over 1TB and will need to be backed up on servers.

Even so, Hronopoulos believes the investment is worth it. "Yes, you need a lot of computing power," he adds (via WSJ). "But, the closer we can come to making it feel like you're there, the more successful we are."

To access the 4K content, users will have to pay $10 a month extra on top of the standard $24.95 monthly subscription.

"But, the closer we can come to making it feel like you're there, the more successful we are."

And that rubs off as creepy.

This is going to be a nightmare affecting the entire worlds' bandwidth. Netflix streaming already looks like shit and can barely even stream SD shows without a glitch here or there. As far as HD streaming, wow it's absolute shit due to the insane amount of compression, doesn't even look like HD. How bad is UHD going to look once it is streamed?

I am a proponent of 4K for sure, but we can't even stream a regular HD signal that is worth watching, so maybe fix that problem first. And remember, UHD is more than twice the resolution because if you double it's width and double it's height you end up with 4 HD images in the space of one UHD image.

Time to roll out the Holographic Versatile Discs.....

seths, it is a bandwidth issue...people with 100mbps connections get real pretty UHD streaming, at least at off-peak hours when the servers can dedicate the bandwidth for the lower-compression version. Sure, it isn't as nice as a blueray disk...but it isn't a disk, and that is a big plus for a lot of people.

I still thinking that 4K content will be a happy experience only for people using blu-ray discs &/or stream via fiver-optic lines from start to finish. Any other way people will end up with lossy video no mather how much money cost the service.

Just saying.

Indeed haha.

No Andre, it 's quadruple.

And the conservatives don't think we need fibre-to-the-home in Oz.... typically myopic, condescending and ignorant.

PS: Not reflecting on porn... just 4K content in general. Excuse me.
