MEGA's Kim Dotcom starts his own political party Kim Dotcom has announced the formal launch of his own political party in New Zealand: The Internet Party.
The new party is a "movement for the freedom of the internet and technology, for privacy and political reform."

Dotcom, the larger-than-life mogul behind the original Megaupload and the new MEGA cloud lockers, is still facing possible extradition to the U.S. for charges of copyright infringement for Megaupload, which at one point controlled over 10 percent of the entire Internet's traffic.

The Internet Party wants to "give you faster, cheaper internet, create high-tech jobs, protect your privacy and safeguard our independence," says the site. In addition, the Party will into "a New Zealand-sponsored digital currency that is safe, secure and encrypted."

Dotcom made news earlier this week when he announced plans to have MEGA go public on the New Zealand stock exchange.

marijuana movement is apparently worldwide and the fact marijuana is getting legalized in most american states is proof they are having some success.

in theory i agree with what Kim dotcom wants to do but i dont think countries are gonna give us the amounts of freedom he wants especially america.

We have mmp here (biggest mistake this country made a lot of those who voted for it now regret it..idiots),the party will require 5% of the vote at the General election later this year to be able to get into parliament;this will not be easy;the only way the party will make it in is through uni students voting as normally the younger ones don't bother voting;at the mo the .com party have no candidates put forward as far as i know.

Dot com will not be standing himself, they don't have any policies either other than rhetoric you see written in this news item which tells us nothing

Regarding faster internet here, unless a new isp with it's own lines comes into the market the two major telco's will have a monopoly for the foreseeable future, privatization was said to bring cheaper prices through more competition as you no doubt know yourselves that's a load of bullshit & has the opposite effect, same goes for our power companies, even more annoying all these were originally public owned before being sold by the Government
