Apple denies it is killing off Beats Music

Apple was quick to deny a report that it was preparing to shut down its newly acquired Beats Music service.
Spokesman Tom Neumayr said bluntly that the rumors were "not true," although it is possible that the service will be rebranded in the future.

Beats Music subscribers pay $10 per month for unlimited streaming access to a large catalog of tracks on desktop or mobile devices. The service and its contracts with the major record labels is said to be a big reason that Apple purchased Beats for $3 billion this year.

Apple recently added Beats Music to its Apple TV set-top, and CEO Tim Cook said in an interview he was so impressed by the service that he could barely sleep. Hardly something a company would do if they were on the verge of shutting down a service.

We would expect that Beats Music will be folded into iTunes Radio, giving Apple users a much better overall service with more options.

Considering product placement like the blatant ad for the Beats Pill in the latest Transformers flick I can't see rebranding happening either... maybe Beats by Apple or Apple Beats or even Beat Yourself Over Apple

It will be changed to iBeats. Then it will add Siri support so when you want to end the play back you just say iBeats off.

Too funny!!!!

On another note..........why would ANYONE EVER EVER EVER pay 10 bucks a month for Beats or any other music streaming service when there are SO FREAKING MANY free solutions out there???

Are people just that stupid nowadays that they'll pay for anything just for the sake of having it......and all too often they don't even use what it is they're paying for.

No kidding... I just bought my wife a new car a few months ago and it came with free XM radio for 3 months or whatever and I cannot get them to stop calling me and sending me mail to start a subscription. My wife has never used it because she streams music from her phone using a free streaming service or MP3s or she simply listens to the radio.

No way I am paying for a service for music. I have plenty now and I'll either stream it using a free service and deal with a commercial every now and then or buy my music and add it to my collection.
