Report: Apple has sold 2.5 million smartwatches so far

Report: Apple has sold 2.5 million smartwatches so far According to Slice Intelligence, Apple has sold 2.5 million smartwatches, to date, but demand has already slowed significantly.
The firm studies consumer spending in the U.S., and it has taken a stab at the fledgling smartwatch industry.

Half of the sales came in the first 24 hours of availability, and since then orders have averaged under 30,000 per day.

Although demand has slowed, 30,000 daily sales means Apple could move 11 million units in its first year of sales, a strong number when the average sales price for the watch is around $400.

Unfortunately, we may not know exact sales of the Watch, even from Apple, as the company will dump the Watch sales in its "other" sales category that includes iPods and accessories like Lightning cables.

What a load of nonsense and a clear sign of the world we live in where a company can make a business out of plucking numbers out of it's arse, seriously where does this company get it's numbers from?

Considering stock sold out in less than an hour and anyone buying a watch now is going to have to wait weeks for delivery, how could this company possibly have any clue what numbers Apple is seeing? Worse still it turns out they are only talking about the US, they might not realise this but there is a whole world outside of the US and we buy stuff too.

Not so sure I believe this. Statistically I would think that if indeed 2.5 mill have actually been sold, I'd come across at least one person. Most tapped in techs probably would.

2.5 mill is probably what they have actually sent out to and supplied in the stores. Sales irrelevant.

I live in Scotland population around 5.2 million and I've already seen 2 Apple Watches in the wild, 3 if you include my own.

Also sales have been exclusively online so far so I doubt they would include stock shipped to stores.

None of this changes the fact that the only company that could possibly know how many Apple Watches have been sold is Apple, this other company is just trying to ride on Apples wave and get some free publicity.
