Overnight Success of Million Dollar Wiki Spurs Internet Land-Grab
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- - Only One Month After Launch, a New Marketing Sensation is Exploding In the short month since the launch of the Million Dollar Wiki (http://www.MillionDollarWiki.com), the clever website has caused quite a splash. The site is like Wikipedia.com but with an important difference: Each page costs one hundred dollars and only the owner of a page controls its content. Since the Million Dollar Wiki's launch on May 29th, more than eighty pages have been sold. Of these, sixty pages were sold in the last week alone. "The whole thing is picking up speed even faster than I had anticipated," said Graham Langdon, the twenty-one year old founder and college senior. "At this rate, all of the premium pages will be sold within a month." What's being touted as the latest internet land grab came virtually out of nowhere. Tempted by the potential resale value of highly searched words like "Music" or "Credit Cards," some customers are buying up to fifteen pages at a time. To top things off, the "Business" page recently sold on eBay for a whopping US$6,100. Some forward-thinking entrepreneurs have even begun setting up micro-businesses on the pages of the Million Dollar Wiki. One man set up a book store that reviews and sells a single book at a time. Another set up a discussion forum which is already generating a stream of advertising revenue. Perhaps the most interesting micro business on the Million Dollar Wiki is ideaGENERATOR, a US$5.00 service that gives you a list of ideas to improve the efficiency, aesthetics and functionality of your website. Launched last week, the ideaGENERATOR page has already met with success. "In the first four days of launching the page, I made back the US$100 I paid for the page. Now I can ride the wiki wave forever. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me," said Matthew Lipman, founder of ideaGENERATOR. Langdon noted that his wiki pages are popular because of the freedom they afford. People have used their pages to set up forums, post their blog feeds, display YouTube videos, sell art, put up their own google ads, and so much more. "Every day someone is doing something new and innovative with a Million Dollar Wiki page. It's very exciting," said Langdon. Web site: http://www.milliondollarwiki.com
