Platts to Announce 2007 Top 250 Global Energy Companies

NEW YORK, July 3 /PRNewswire/ --

Platts, the world's leading energy information provider and a division of
The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), will announce its annual Platts Top
250 Global Energy Companies in Singapore on September 13, 2007. For the first
time, the rankings also will showcase the world's fastest-growing energy
companies, based on each company's compounded revenue growth over a
three-year period. The 2007 sponsor is Logical Information Machines (LIM), a
leading provider of data, analytics, and research to the world's largest
energy and financial concerns.

The Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies ranking, now in its eighth
year, measures financial performance by examining each company's assets,
revenue, profits, and return on invested capital. All ranked companies have
assets greater than (U.S.) $2 billion. The underlying data come from the
Compustat(R) database, which is compiled and maintained by Standard & Poor's
(like Platts, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies). Energy companies are
grouped according to their Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS(R))
code. The top performers will be announced at the second annual Platts Top
250 Global Energy Companies Asia Awards Dinner and Executive Summit at the
Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.

In addition to honoring the Platts Top 250 Energy Companies globally,
Platts will recognize the Top 15 Asian Energy Companies, the Top 10
Fastest-Growing Asian Energy Companies, and the Top Asian Energy Companies in
each of eight industry segments as follows:

-- Diversified utilities
    -- Exploration and production
    -- Electric utilities
    -- Gas utilities
-- Integrated oil and gas companies
    -- Refining and marketing
    -- Independent power producers
-- Coal and consumable fuel companies

At 23%, Asian company representation has remained steady in Platts Top
250 for the past two years. Because of Asia's present and future position in
the global energy marketplace, it is a natural venue for the Platts Top 250
Awards program. Additional sponsorships for this year's event are still
available. For details, please contact Vicki Peterson at
Vicki_peterson@platts.com or +1-970-461-1090.
