ICIS Pricing Launches Chinese Language Flexible Polyurethane Foam Feedstocks (China) Report

SINGAPORE, July 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ICIS pricing, the global market pricing and intelligence service for the
oil and chemical industries, launches a new weekly Chinese language Flexible
Polyurethane Foam Feedstocks (China) report.

With increasing demand for domestic price assessments and information on
the Chinese market, ICIS pricing's Flexible Polyurethane Foam Feedstocks
(China) report includes price assessments for spot delivered China polyether
polyols, CFR China TDI, as well as slabstock delivered China on both
polyether polyols and toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) in the north, east and
south China markets. The weekly Flexible Polyurethane Foam Feedstocks (China)
report also includes detailed commentary on events in China, as well as the
wider Asian market.

"Due to continuing market volatility, there is a strong demand for an
authoritative and independent price assessment in the polyurethane industry,"
said Alfred Wong, ICIS China Bureau Chief. "With this in mind, ICIS pricing
has decided to launch the weekly report to help industry players make
effective pricing decisions."

Demand for polyether polyols is growing at around 10-15% annually in
China, where around 55% of total polyether polyols demand comes from the
flexible foam market and 25% comes from rigid foam. The Chinese flexible foam
grade polyether polyols market will grow at 5% per annum until 2010, with
growth driven by domestic polyether polyols capacity expansions and the
downstream foam industry.

There are four domestic TDI producers in China and total capacity of
145,000 tonnes/year. Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co Ltd (SBPC) runs a methyl
di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) finishing plant and a 160,000 tonne/year TDI
plant with precursor nitric acid and dinitrotoluene plants built by BASF,
Shanghai Hua Yi (Group) Co and Sinopec Shanghai Gao Qiao Petrochemical Corp.
Annual TDI demand growth in China stands at more than 5%.

Following the successful launch of Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Fibres
and Polyvinyl Chloride reports covering the Chinese market, written by a
dedicated editorial team based in the ICIS office in Shanghai, the weekly
Flexible Polyurethane Foam Feedstocks (China) report consolidates ICIS
pricing's benchmark position and provides price information and news in the
Asian polyurethanes market.
