Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show Team Enjoys Participating in the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race
LONDON, July 4 /PRNewswire/ -- - With Photo - Earls Court Boat Show Entry Takes 4th Place in the 4a Class Yacht Race; James Brooke Awards 'Sunsail Team 26' for Winning its Class; Prince's Trust Ambassador, Kenny Logan Enjoys Teaching the Ropes to Hannah Jones and Ines Correia of the 'Get Into Maritime' Initiative The Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show today announced its team enjoyed a successful weekend at the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race. The boat show had two branded boats competing in the event: Zingala, a Swan 56, named 'Earls Court Boat Show' which placed fourth in the 4a yacht competition; and a Sunsail 37 sailing yacht. In addition, the winning Sunsail class yacht, Team 26, was awarded with the Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show/Sunsail Trophy. The show's charity partner, The Prince's Trust, had Ambassador Kenny Logan, along with 'Get into Maritime initiative's' Hannah Jones and Ines Correia, aboard Zingala. "This has been a great weekend for our team as we very much enjoyed competing in this year's race and soaking up the atmosphere in Cowes. We are pleased to have placed fourth with our Swan 56 entrant and sharing our experience with Kenny Logan and Hannah and Ines was priceless. It was fun to watch these young people contribute to the team and experience firsthand the intensity and excitement of race competition," said James Brooke, Managing Director, Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show. Race Results In the 4a Class, The Earls Court Boat Show team set sail in Swan 56 Zingala earning a fourth place position out of 38 class entries. The Prince's Trust 'Get into Maritime' Initiative The Prince's Trust charity was represented by Kenny Logan at this event. Kenny was aboard the Earls Court Boat Show Yacht helping to teach Hannah Jones and Ines Correia how to develop their sailing skills. Prince's Trust Ambassador and ex-Scotland International Rugby legend, Kenny Logan said, "I enjoyed the intense competition of this race and it was a pleasure to spend time with this crew and its two special crew members, Hannah and Ines. The Prince's Trust, 'Get into Maritime' initiative is a practical and inspiring way to help young people discover the magic of sailing and it truly helps to positively influence the lives of young people." Hannah Jones is a 19 year old from Fareham. She learned about The Prince's Trust through a newspaper ad and has participated in a two 'Get into Maritime' initiatives. She would like to pursue a career in the maritime industry and plans to get involved this summer with UKSA. Ms. Jones stated, "This is the first race I have ever been involved in and I loved being involved in all the excitement." Ines Correia is 19 and from Chichester. She has participated in several initiatives including the 'Get into Maritime' initiative through The Prince's Trust. With previous sailing experience Ms. Correia stated, "This was an amazing experience and very exciting to be involved in a race. The ship was much bigger than anything I have sailed on before, so that was amazing as well." Sunsail Award The Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show also sponsored a Sunsail 37, yacht number 41, to participate in the race. With over 40 Sunsail yachts competing. James Brooke awarded the winning yacht in the Sunsail class, 'Team Milton' on the Sunsail Yacht 26, with the Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show/Sunsail trophy. Team Milton was skippered by long time Sunsail skipper, Nick Willis and helmed by John Reed (aka 'The Sea Poodle'). This scratch crew comprising of 3 members of Milton Commercial Investment and Development Company and two associates also included: Melanie Coburn, PJ Savory, David Casement and Tim Greenland. The team said there secret weapon was getting up and to the start on time and eating two breakfasts.
