- The Queen is our Most Desired Neighbour - New Survey Finds
Although there'd be a lot of twitching curtains and 'keeping
up with the Windsors', a new survey has found that the person people would
most like to live next door to is the Queen.
The survey found that a quarter of people want to live next
door to Her Majesty. This was closely followed by David Attenborourgh (10%)
and Sean Connery (9%). The person the least people wanted to live next door
to is Victor Meldrew (1%).
It was the men who wanted a good converser as a neighbour,
with the majority of opting for Attenborough and Mick Jagger. Ladies seemed
to want the eye candy next door - with 94% of the Sean Connery voters, women.
The great North/South divide was also evident in the survey,
with 43% of patriotic Southerners opting for the Queen, whilst a quarter of
chatty Northerners most wanted to live next door to TV legend Michael
Parkinson.
Mark Phoenix of Prestigious Retirement Villages who carried
out the survey, said: "As developer of the UK's largest retirement village we
wanted to get an idea about peoples' perceptions of both the grey market and
the neighbours they'd most like to have. The results show that people are
more concerned about the quality of their neighbours, hence why the Queen
beat Joanna Lumley.
"Today's obsession with celebrity and wealth was perhaps
another contributing factor to peoples' answers and it's quite interesting to
see that people really want to get to know the older generation and the
celebrities who represent them."
The newest trend in retirement living was unveiled in
September last year and the trend-setting Middleton Towers development by
Prestigious Retirement Villages is now welcoming its first residents.
Middleton Towers been created to meet the growing demand from
the over 55s for secure but modern living space amongst like minded people.
Concluded Mark: "The site really does offer optimum luxury for
residents; we think it might even be good enough for the Queen."
