SAN FRANCISCO, November 27 /PRNewswire/ --
- Public Event to Demonstrate How the Liberty Identity Assurance
Framework Bridges Identity Services Availability and Customer Demand for
Interoperable and Trusted Services
Liberty Alliance, the global identity consortium working to build a more
trusted Internet for consumers, governments and businesses worldwide, today
announced the webcast Identity Assurance Framework: Advancing the
Marketplace, taking place at 8:00 a.m. US PT on November 29. The Identity
Assurance Framework (IAF) has been developed by the Liberty Alliance Identity
Assurance Expert Group (IAEG) with input from leading financial services,
government, healthcare, IT and telecommunications organizations to provide
federation operators with business and policy standards for more easily
making trust decisions about the acceptance and management of identity
credentials within their respective federations.
"The IAF fills cross-industry requirements for an industry standard that
allows federation operators to simplify interoperability, rapidly deploy new
services and deliver an enhanced customer experience," said Jane Hennessy,
Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo Bank and Co-chair of the Liberty Alliance
Identity Assurance Expert Group. "The November 29th webcast will demonstrate
how the IAF makes it easier for all federations to expand based on certified
identity assurance levels and standardized business and policy criteria."
Hosted by Brett McDowell, Executive Director of the Liberty Alliance,
Roger Sullivan, President of the Liberty Alliance and Vice President of
Oracle Identity Management and Jane Hennessy and Jim Gross, Senior Vice
Presidents, Wells Fargo, the webcast will review why the IAF is critical to
advancing trusted federations, the current state of federation policy and
processes, immediate next steps and the roadmap for 2008. A Q and A will
follow the online presentation. Registration is available at

About the Liberty Identity Assurance Framework
Based on the Electronic Authentication Partnership Trust Framework
derived from the NIST Special Publication 800-63 and now enhanced and updated
by the Liberty's IAEG, the IAF fills cross-industry requirements for baseline
identity assurance policy standards for all public and private sector
federations. The IAF defines four identity assurance levels based on a
comprehensive set of process and policy criteria required to meet each level
of assurance and goes on to define the standard assessment criteria,
accreditation and certification rules for federating organizations to meet
each of the four levels of assurance. Liberty Alliance expects to launch an
identity assurance accreditation and certification program based on IAF
criteria during mid-2008. The IAF is available for public review and comment
