Bytemobile Launches Web Video on Mass-Market Handsets, New Open Internet Browsing Capabilities

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, November 28 /PRNewswire/ --

Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in mobile internet solutions for
network operators, today announced the general availability of its Unison(TM)
Media Fidelity(TM) Service for the delivery of PC-quality internet video on
mass-market mobile devices. The company launched the new service with the
latest release of its Unison multi-service architecture and platform.

The first release of Unison Media Fidelity Service (MFS), which was
announced initially on July 11, provides:

-- Web video discovery and access from mobile browsers on mass-market
       handsets
-- Dynamic video transcoding adapted to each device
-- Dynamic bandwidth shaping for optimization of video streaming
       according to network bandwidth

MFS is the first carrier-grade, commercial infrastructure solution to
adapt and optimize web multimedia content for mass-market mobile devices
without client software downloads or other device changes (see a demo at
http://www.bytemobile.com/products-solutions/unison-media-fidelity-service-pr
oduct-demo.html). All that is required on the device is a standard media
player. As a result, operators are able to deliver all internet video -- from
user-generated content on YouTube and MySpace to branded commercial media on
CNN and MTV -- to their handset subscribers.

"With the launch of Unison Media Fidelity Service, we continue to build
momentum in the rapidly emerging market for the open Internet on mobile
devices," said Adrian Hall, vice president of Marketing and Business
Development at Bytemobile. "Consumer demand for quality web browsing has in
turn fueled demand for PC-quality internet video and other rich media. For
our customers, delivering the best possible user experience for web and
multimedia services is essential in driving data plan adoption and
accelerating growth in data revenues."

According to Infonetics Research (April 2007), approximately 75% of
network operators worldwide plan to offer their subscribers mobile video and
TV by the end of 2008, up from approximately half that number today. Research
and Markets (June 2007) estimates that global sales of mobile video,
excluding advertising revenues, will grow from approximately US$180 million
in 2006 to approximately US$10.2 billion by 2012.

Open Web Browsing

In addition to MFS, the new Unison release adds capabilities to Web
Fidelity(TM) Service, which was launched for general availability in May
2007. Also an industry first, Web Fidelity Service (WFS) enables carriers to
deliver open internet browsing on mass-market handsets, feature phones and
smartphones, using either native browsers or downloadable Java browsers. The
new version of WFS supports Opera Mini 4.0, the latest release of the
best-selling mobile device browser from Opera Software ASA. The enhanced
functionality of WFS adapts and optimizes the web browsing experience for
each device. It also enables consumers to personalize their experience,
thereby facilitating the transition from PC browsing to mobile browsing.

WFS is currently deployed live in the networks of tier-one operators in
Germany, Ireland and Greece and scheduled for additional deployments in the
Netherlands, Egypt and the United Kingdom before year-end.

MFS and WFS are integrated within the Unison open architecture, which
accelerates carriers' time to market for new data, web and multimedia
applications by consolidating interoperable internet protocol (IP) services
on a single node in the core data path of the network. Other IP services
available on the Unison platform include:

-- ACCESS Mobile(TM) Content Filtering Service for parental and operator
controls on subscriber access to web content
-- WAP Gateway Service for enhanced access to branded portal content on
       Wireless Application Protocol handsets
-- Third-party solutions for the deployment and delivery of mobile data
       services

The foundation of all Unison IP services is the Optimization Services
Node (OSN) Monaco(TM) Edition. This in-network server speeds data traffic
between the mobile device and the Internet for a superior user experience and
reduces data volumes for increased network capacity and lower total cost of
ownership. The Unison solution monitors all network traffic, inspecting data
packets once and applying IP services only as needed to improve network
efficiency and performance. The architecture runs on highly scalable,
industry-standard hardware platforms.

The new Unison release also supports optimization of High-Speed Uplink
Packet Access (HSUPA) and EV-DO Rev A networks, optimization service
selection, enhanced header enrichment for WAP gateways, the Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and multi-site subscriber databases.
