Darren Innes Hired as General Manager for Worldwide Direct and Channel Sales at Avistar Communications

SAN MATEO, California and LONDON, November 28 /PRNewswire/ --

Avistar Communications Corporation has hired Darren Innes as general
manager, worldwide sales. Innes is in charge of Avistar's global direct sales
force as well as its global channel sales program. He started at Avistar on
November 1.

Simon Moss, president, said: "Avistar has embarked on a turnaround
strategy that has refocused the business on go-to-market success. Darren
possesses world-class sales leadership skills that will be instrumental in
generating a new level of intensity in our sales and distribution efforts,
complementing our market leadership in intellectual property and licensing
for video-enabled unified communications and network management software.
Under his direction, I look forward to significant new business partnerships,
channel and direct sales growth in 2008."

Innes brings more than sixteen years of successful technology sales
management experience, with a proven track record of turnaround revenue
growth. He most recently served as global head of sales, and general manager,
EMEA, for Mantas, a global software company that is part of i-flex(R)
solutions, a majority-owned subsidiary of Oracle Corporation. Previous to his
commercial career, he was a member of the British Armed Forces serving as a
communications and weapons expert in various operational theatres throughout
the world.

Innes and Moss previously worked alongside each other at Mantas. "Darren
is just the kind of seasoned sales executive I want as part of my team as we
fulfill our mission to demonstrate the value of Avistar's capabilities to a
wider market audience. He is making an immediate difference, having already
opened new markets by restructuring the sales team and creating a reseller
channel strategy, as well as accelerating discussions with current prospects
to focus the entire business towards a market that is ready for unified
communications," concluded Moss.

"I'm excited to have joined a company that will be a fundamental enabler
in the unified communications revolution," said Innes. "I know from
experience the importance of effective communication across large and
dispersed organizations. Avistar's patented technology makes it possible for
an entire enterprise to meet via desktop video just as easily as using
instant messaging, allowing teamwork and communication to develop more
naturally and accelerating the accomplishment of shared objectives. And while
the alternatives are hyping their promise, Avistar is proven at scale in real
installations."
