Ascom Introduces an "All-in-One" Box for Messaging to Improve Personal Security and Mission-Critical Communication

GOTEBORG, Sweden, January 15 /PRNewswire/ --

- Ascom UPAC - Simplifying Professional Messaging

Small and medium sized target groups like elderly care homes, retail,
schools and social welfare offices will benefit from Ascom's new professional
messaging and personal alarm solution; UPAC.

Ascom UPAC solves security and messaging functionality in a simple way.
It enables sending messages directly from web browsers or it can
automatically generate messages triggered by events such as an elevator
stoppage or a broken fan. It distributes the messages to DECT or WiFi
handsets, to pagers or to GSM telephones via SMS. The solution means easier
installation and configuration than comparable alternatives and has an
intuitive interface. Existing communication systems can be enhanced with
wireless messaging leading to a quicker and more efficient handling of
critical events and shorter response times.

Ascom UPAC is based on a solid state server running the Linux operating
system. It is ideal for all types of customers with a messaging/alarm need
for up to 100 users.

"The application ensures that a message always will reach its target. For
example if a lone worker presses the alarm button the system will pinpoint
the location and notify a responsible person to assist. If he/she is
unavailable or can not answer, the alarm can be directed to the next
person/team or be sent to a GSM mobile", says Torbjörn Enberg, Product
Manager at Ascom.

He continues, "Furthermore, Ascom UPAC can be used both for supervising
equipment and for logging of events. Many industries have high quality
assurance goals and need to track processes during incidents. Analysing
logged data can help to improve efficiency and proof of service."
