- Egypt GSC to be the First in the Middle East and Africa Region and the
28th Globally for the IT Major

Satyam (NYSE: SAY), a leading global business and information
technology services company, announced today the inauguration of its Global
Solutions Center (GSC) in Egypt by H.E. Dr. Tarek Kamel, the Egyptian
Minister of Communications and Information Technology in a press conference
held at the convention center in Smart Village. Located in Smart Village,
Giza, the GSC is a joint undertaking by the Government of Egypt and Satyam
Computer Services Ltd. and will train and deploy about 300 personnel to serve
as a major technological development and software support group for Satyam's
customers in the Middle East. Also present at the press conference were
senior company officials including Mr. B. Rama Raju, Co-founder and CEO of
Satyam; Virender Aggarwal, Director and Sr. Vice President, Satyam
Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa; Murali V, Director and Senior Vice
President - Commercial, Satyam; Sriram Papani, Sr. Vice President -
Enterprise Applications, Satyam; Eng. Mohamed I. Embaby, Head, Egypt Global
Solutions Centre; in addition to H.E A. Gopinathan, Ambassador of India -
Egypt, and Dr. Hazem Abdelazim, CEO, Information Technology Industry
Development Agency (Egypt).

The rising IT spend in Egypt, which according to IDC has been
projected to grow by 12.4 per cent over the next five years and reach USD 120
million by 2010, has amplified its repute as the next important IT hub in the
Middle East and African region. Recognizing the tremendous opportunity amidst
the country's growing IT services market, Satyam has identified Egypt as the
perfect location for its first GSC in the Middle East and African
sub-continent which will serve to support the Egyptian Government's aims to
develop local talent by creating more jobs. The GSC is a state-of-the art
center spanning 2,100 sq. meters and its facilities include 2 training labs,
video conferencing, high-speed networks and 24/7 connectivity to all other
global locations. As the cornerstone of Satyam's strategy in the region, the
300-seater GSC will mainly house locals and is going to be headed by Mohamed
I. Embaby, an Egyptian national. The GSC will serve as a near-shore to the
Middle East and North Africa markets and also cater to the BPO, KPO and ITeS
needs of European markets due to the availability of European language skills
in Egypt.
