Work Experience Awards 2008 held at the Café Royal on 12th March. The
National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) promotes, supports and develops
quality work experience for the benefit of students, employers and the
economy. The NCWE Awards are an annual awards scheme designed to encourage
and reward organisations, whatever their size or industry that display good
practice in work experience.

The Portaltech work placement scheme was set up in 2007 to help support
the recruitment and placement of year out undergraduate students. Our
Student's experience the same recruitment processes as graduate hires and
undergo initial training to bring them up to speed with the technologies and
business practices we employ. From this point on our students get the
opportunity to work on real world projects, gaining exposure to our clients
while developing and enhancing their business and technology skills in the
process. The major factor as recognised by the judges, in Portaltech winning
the best work experience provider award was due to our student's involvement
in the end to end lifecycle of a significant web project. Our students formed
part of the pitch team and were involved right the way through the
implementation which was delivered on time and to budget, in no small part,
due to hard work and efforts of two very bright and promising work experience
placements.
