Latest Research Figures from Broadband Genie Finds the Root Cause of 'Broadband Rage'

CAMBRIDGE, England, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- As more and more stories of broadband customers openly expressing their
anger at poor service from their Internet Service Providers, Broadband Genie
has conducted a survey involving 210 broadband subscribers to find out the
main cause of internet angst.

Despite the fact that broadband speeds are at the highest level ever,
slow connections came out as the biggest cause of broadband rage, troubling
the majority of customers at 40%. The most common cause of anger has been
blamed on inaccurate advertising, especially for those subscribed to packages
promising up to 8Mb - a speed that is rarely achieved by the average home
user.

The next biggest annoyance for those surveyed was more of a personal
nature with customer service ranking at second place. 77 of the subscribers
surveyed expressed annoyance at poor quality of service and support,
especially when it came to spending lengthy periods of time on customer
support phone lines.

13% of the broadband customers surveyed by Broadband Genie found that
sporadic faults or disconnections gave them the biggest headache, whilst 7%
were troubled with unsuccessful installations.

Of all of the broadband subscribers questioned, a mere six of those
surveyed were angered by package throttles and caps, whilst none of the
broadband users questioned felt that they were getting a raw deal with the
price of their package.

Ciaron Dunne from Broadband Genie commented on the latest survey results:

"Whilst speed and customer service have always played a huge part in
creating frustration for broadband users, one of the most interesting
findings of this survey was that very few customers were annoyed by price or
capped downloads." He continued: "It seems that if ISPs deliver their
advertised service without exceptions, customers will quite happily pay the
price. The trouble starts when the goods, or in this case speed, isn't
delivered."
