Verizon Business to Fully Manage Global Network for Outotec

READING, England, April 10 /PRNewswire/ --

- Verizon Private IP and Hosted Applications Offer Single Solution for
Worldwide Operations

Outotec -- a leading global provider of process solutions, technologies
and services for the mining and metallurgical industries -- is consolidating
its global communications infrastructure with Verizon Business.

Verizon Business will supply Outotec with Verizon Private IP, a fully
managed communications network, which will provide secure, high-speed
connectivity for 30 of Outotec's key global locations spanning six
continents. Some business-critical applications will be colocated at a
Verizon Business hosting site in the United States, complementing Outotec's
own data centers in Australia and Finland.

In addition, fully managed Verizon Internet dedicated and Internet
scanning services will also deliver a high-performance and full-time
dedicated Internet connection, as well as help Outotec protect its e-mail
system from spam and viruses.

Outotec, with headquarters in Finland, employs approximately 2,100
employees worldwide and is a market and technology leader in three key
business divisions: metals processing, base metals and minerals processing.
The company was listed as an independent company in 2006 when it was spun out
from its parent, Outokumpu Oyj. Because of the global nature of its business
and its established global presence, Outotec decided to reassess its global
network infrastructure to ensure it was suitable to support its current and
future internal and external collaboration requirements.

Outotec decided to consolidate its network infrastructure and management
with a single global communications partner to achieve both cost and
management efficiencies.

"We had already enjoyed a positive relationship with Verizon Business
when we were part of Outokumpu," said Petri Tanskanen, vice president of IT,
Outotec. "As we reviewed our options after the tendering process, it became
clear that Verizon Business was still the right choice for us -- all over the
world. The fact that Verizon Business offered a one-stop shop for almost all
our requirements was perfect. The company's professional approach to
after-sales service was also noted."

Tanskanen concluded: "Network maintenance is not our core business. By
working with Verizon Business we are able to focus on our own operations,
assured that our infrastructure is in safe hands."

Pekka Inkinen, sales director, Verizon Business, said, "For global
companies like Outotec, a secure, global communications infrastructure is
absolutely vital to keep their global operations running. Verizon Business'
global reach as well as its local presence were all key in Outotec's decision
to entrust this project to us. But even more important was our team's ability
to delve into the organization and develop a solution that truly addressed
its business concerns. We look forward to continuing to support Outotec as it
works to achieve its global business objectives for many years to come."
